They posted in another thread that they cut back on advertising so their sponsorship here was ended to save money. As far as I know they are still getting things up and running.

Ultimate Performance is still here and the shop is up and running just fine. As a small shop the amount to be a vendor on this site was just not in the budget for this year. As for why the build thread disappeared, its very simple, there are some people including the mods who will do anything to keep the BS drama alive and I don't want my shop to be a part of that foolishness. For those that know me thru this site, know that I am a man of my word and run a legitimate shop.

Its really sad to see what this site has become. There still are good people here but it seems that the never ending drama, well its just pathetic.

Coach I know what you are saying. I fight very hard to avoid the drama, and sometimes the drama even starts internally. I have fired employees that have spread rumors, or shared confidential information, and didn't think twice about it. It's amazing what people will do for attention, I suppose.

Keep going, and don't give up. Surround yourself with the best people always!

Its tough to find good people these days that are trustworthy. We have been extremely lucky in that department so we are fortunate. But I know others who havent faired so well...................Myfriend who has an eVO shop in San Diego just got taken for $18k from a former employee!!!!!!!!!!!!! So at least you havent been blatantly ripped off Sharif

depending on the quantity of months purchased, < $14.99/month from godaddy's site - for unlimited bandwidth.

I'm not going to fault you because you're ignorant to the fact.. if you can get a message board of this size to run on $14.99 virtual server from Go-Daddy i will give you my car for free..

i ran a message board with 80k members.. first off running this software it needs two servers .. one for web.. one for the sql database.. the cheapest plan you are looking at to make this site run efficiently from a webhost is $650/month

IB cuts down on cost because they have their own servers in house.. but i would say the amount of posts and traffic this site gets.. its probably $1k/month to run without errors and slow downs

fair enough, sounds like there's plenty of other costs other than simply bandwidth...but a large internet pipe is cheap these days compared to a decade ago where an isdn line was costing several hundred dollars a month. now-a-days people are getting 8mbit down for like $40. and in japan people have 25mbit to their f'in cell phones for the equivalent for about $150usd/month.

because gone are the days where the site owner owns the server and runs literally IN HIS HOUSE.
These days more and more resources are getting spread out to try to cut costs... ugghh I don't want to dwell into the economics of T3h intarwebz.
