bandwidth isn't the issue.. its server resources.. when you your simple website with pictures.. emphasis is placed on bandwidth.. you have a small amount of people viewing pictures.. for your situation you can be on a virtual server with 200 other websites.. a forum such as this needs to be on its on DEDICATED SERVER .. actually you need 2 as the base minimum as i said before.. the SQL Server alone needs 8 gigs of ram MINIMUM to run a database this size.. go price out 2 dedicated server on go daddy for over 8 GB of ram and tell me how much that is..

edit: i just read you said about home bandwidth... yeah it can be done.. order SDSL at home.. build two monster servers for $4,000 .. just hope your ISP doesn't mind you having that many people accessing your IP from all over the world.. that and you better be on top of your php/sql game for when the script kiddies come.. its one thing for your hosting company to call you at 1 am to tell you that your server is sending out spam messages and your account is suspended (been there done that) to your ISP cancelling your account and now you can't get internet from your home at all..

lol, i'm not even starting or planning on starting a forum. this began because someone was implying bandwidth was expensive...which it is not.

depending on how you want to setup your servers, yes it can get pricey - i'll definitely agree with that post. and yes, whether your running apache or iis you better make sure your shizz is updated or ull get owned.

ya no crap - actually hacking is turning into a legit business over seas in croatia, ukraine, and other eastern block countries. you could actually fill out an RFP for the type of infection you want, infection rates, etc...and the stuff is guaranteed. pretty crazy...
