Electrical issues after TT
Alright well I've been looking for 30min to see if anyone else had this problem but couldnt find anything.
Just had my car TT and tuned by the experience in long island (bunch of good guys cept one guy who worked there as a mechanic and called my car a piece of ****...anyways; good work from them) Had no problems until I hit some hiccups with my electrical. First I noticed that my oil pressure gauge is buried way past 120 (cars running fine so thats not right.) Than one day I got in my car and it wouldn't start, sounded like a dead battery, was jumped and the car started first turn. Now everyonce and awhile Ill be driving and the battery light and "BRAKE" light comes on and my battery gauges starts dropping below 12 and above 10. Sometimes this goes away and fixes itself while driving, other times the car will stall itself and I have to turn it over (or pop it if it doesnt turn over.) I've already replaced the battery and I've charged the battery twice now just to make sure thats not the problem. The only thing I can think is a loose ground somewhere, but I wouldnt know where to begin looking....any advice???
I know thats a lot to read but I appreciate all the input to get my car going right again.

didnt u already post this...u have a bad oil pressure sending unit and should not be driving the car..u should fix that...ur oil psi gauge is not off...ive had that problem, as far as other things i do not know, but im guessing thats a problem for u
Yeah I know the oil presure sending unit is bad but I was looking for the answer to the other problem. Mabye they are directly related... I will take it back to the shop if that's my last option but is in long island and that's a 90min drive so I want to sve that as my final option.
I'm gonna replace the oil pressure sending unit tomorrow and seenif that will solve the other problems.

the oil pressure sensor is a easy fix, but it took me a week to get the part..ur prolly gonna have to order through courtesy nissan as there the only people with it in stock i could find..
I had the problem with my car and the battery light and brake coming on after i was TT as well. The dealership replaced two alternators then finally they replaced my gauge cluster and it all went away. The dealership said something got messed up in the cluster. I know its not a good answer but that my experience.
There are a couple major ground points to check (check near the battery, the frame rails, the timing cover, etc). The battery post connectors can develop an oxidized coating precluding optimal signal contact as well. Use some sandpaper and clean the contacts.

like i said turn ur key on but dont start it, if it goes to 120 u need a new sensor thats what it defaults to and thats a good starting point as well as checking ur grounding points..and im sure i could go wiggle ur cable on ur battery it has to be hammered on to stay snug

Alright, thanks guys. Really appreciate it. I'll check the grounds tomorrow and order the oil pressure unit. If that doesn't work it's to the stealership to see if it may be the gauge cluster. That's causing my battery and brake lights to come on. Thanks again! You dudes are great. Hopefully one of these things fix my problem.
Edit: also if anyone could put a link to a thread or website of where exactly the grounds are? That'd make my life easier.

check grounds, check to make sure the power line on the back of the alternator is tight, check to make sure your ps and oil pressure sensor dont have the wire flipped. both the oil pressure sensor and ps have the same style plug.
And I'll be checking the grounds and stuff tonight, Just got a replacement oil pressure sending unit for 85.77 from the stealership...
Thanks again Ill fill you all in once I'm done checking grounds and the new sensor is in, might be tomorrow or so.
I recently had/have the same issue. The battery light and the brake light flickering and the car not starting. I swapped the cluster like red 35 said it didn't help my issue but it seems to come and go so i am going to check my grounds and the alternator connections as well.
alright well I installed the oil pressure sending unit and that fixed that problem. There was a ground that was on the same screw as the new place for my engine coolant, I'm not sure what kind of metal the brace that was holding the container up but I just moved it in case. Haven't had any problems since but it wasn't a consistent problem so I don't really know if that was it (Didnt have a ground checker.) also checked all the wires to the alternator, they were fine.
Thanks again everyone, Ill check back again if anything back happens, I really dont wanna replace my gauge cluster :P
