This is the kind of discussion that USED to be commonplace on here, before the soap operas started up.

Back on topic, I believe that I was one of the first few Arias ED users, and I had great luck with them. They help up great to the beating that Mark's horribly over-advanced tune put on them . I would not hesitate to use them again. That being said, I have heard nothing but good things about the Wiseco and CP pistons as well.

Guys thanks for all the great reply's!!!! This has confirmed to me that the price difference for all the pistons does not mean "you get what you pay for". I could understand if i went for arias or CP and paid over a $1000 for the set but the were made from a higher grade alloy and had coated skirts ect. ect...

So far i think the GTM rod and wisco/CP 8.8-1 looks like a strong bet for me.

It nice to have some tecnical details in this thread and not just "because my builder recommends them". For the people who have posted give Sharif a call i will do but id like to have some kind of info to back up his selection.

Thanks again guys im sure this thread will help others looking for a well mached set of internals!

I've had a look on import parts pro web site and priced up some components. I'm looking to make around 500-550 whp on my high boost setting so would eagle H beam rods be ok for this power goal? The cosworth parts are very expensive (not far off $3000 for the rods and pistons!!) where as I've priced the eagal rods, wiesco 8.8-1 pistons with rings included, ARP L19 head and main stud kit and HKS 96 mm HG for $2029!! is it worth me paying more to go for GTM rods and have the pistons molly coated or Am I throwing cash at the build for no gain? I don't mind paying for higher quality components as long as they are better than the cheaper stuff. (if I make sense! Lol)

For 500-550whp, Eagle's will do just fine. I know a couple people have suggested CP pistons, and these get my vote as well. We have tested them thoroughly in street applications as well as extreme drag setups and they consistently perform great.

Mike's getting confused in his old age. At least I didn't quote you like Rude did, so you can still do a ninja edit. lol.

Eagle H beam rods are rated to 1500 whp on the VQ (by the manufacturer) - I had a snapshot of the specs page from the Eagle catalog somewhere on my hard drive, but cannot find it now... If I were to pick different rods, it would be because they were lighter and just as strong. I don't see the purpose of a heavier rod (e.g. Pauter) when there's been no failure to date with the lighter and cheaper Eagle H beam.

From the comments guys looks like the eagle rod's will take my puny 500-550 whp no problems! Im just wondering why you can get them for less than $500 where most other rods are $1000+??
