Which guages are essential?
Hey fellas,
I'm slowly doing the interior to my car and I'm planning of going with the Powerlab setup after that. I'm going to use the cubby where the nav is supposed to be to setup a few guages and a boost controler. Is there anything in particular that is required for a Boost setup? I know that the Oil Pressure and the Vacuum guages are a must, but is anything else necessary. Also I'm going to be running Utec so I wanted to custom make the switch into the Nav Cubby with an aircraft type switch instead of the push button with numbers that comes with the switch. Anyone do anything like that?
So, what guages would you put to make a great setup? I'm also open to doing the pods on the drivers side as well in conjuction with the Nav Cubby.
Thanks guys.

Boost, AFR, Fuel Pressure, Danger2manifold, and Water temp are the main things I'd like to be able to view at a glance. If you are doing a lot of road racing/endurance type stuff, oil temp would be nice too.

Ok guys. I guess I'm going to do the A/F and Boost Gauges on the pillars to the left. I'm going to do 3 small guages in the cubby and switch. Oil Temp, Water Temp, and Fuel Pressure.
Now, Which gauges best match the Z interior. I've seen the Defi BF Linkmeter but I've only seen the Amber on the site and it looks red. Any other Brands that are a perfect match to the interior?

A change in oil pressure will tell you right away if there is a major problem that will cause catastrophic failure. Meanwhile water temp gauge would normally indicate overheating which while important does not cause major damage as quickly as problems with oil....Just my 2c
the 350z already has an oil pressure gauge from the factory. it also already has a water temp gauge. both have always done me justice. i know the water temp doesnt give you exact degrees... but your water is typically always the same, and if it starts to climb then you know its going to keep climbing if you dont stop whatever youre doing to overload the cooling system. if youre not road racing, you dont need to add a water temp gauge.
boost, a/f, oil temp.
the only gauges i ever look at are oil pressure and a/f.... i only check oil temp if holding high speed on the tollway for long duration. i dont ever look at the boost gauge, because i dont particularly care what my boost is if my A/F is correct and i know i have a boost fuel cut set if something causes it to go higher then i would want. ill sometimes glance at the boost peak-hold on my boost controller after letting off full throttle just to make sure its still hitting where i have it set... i wouldnt notice if the boost gauge in my pillar stopped working cause i dont ever look at it unless checking engine vacuum.
