That is why we buy everything south of the border. Just save up for when the currency is 1:1 and go nuts. UPS truck comes to my house all by itself.

imo there's nothing more satisfying than getting a butt-raped toyot (yes i do spell it toyot on purpose ) and fixing it up.
Honestly it would be worth fixing that engine. Give you a dd for another 100k miles OR be able to sell it for more than you put in.

so no progress on this kit? what a kick in the nuts, drop tons of money and it gets sidelined as soon as it arrives.

No i was hopping to have it done and tuned by the end of NOV. However it is looking like it might be Christmas OR the end Of January.

This truck thing has really thrown me off. I cant decide what to do with it...i have this feeling... Me and a buddy did a basic street tare down of most of the exterior of the engine. Needs a new head gasket for sure and a water pump, but there is just this nagging feeling that as soon as i start that there is going to be so much needed to be done to it that its going to take over my life, fix all of the problems it has.

So the kit is taunting me, from the floor in my room. Im considering just buying a 2003 tundra or something. The whole situation just sucks...Sugestions?

No, the intercooler that comes with the kit is small and not capable of doing it's job properly when you start turning up the boost. After seeing extreme air temperatures with this kit (approaching 200degF), we immediately stopped, removed the supplied core, and added our own. Comparison images below:

The set up looks alot different, must just be because its on a G?

Im not looking for huge HP gains once its installed...i just want to get it installed... wait a year or two hopefully then do the engine, Were you pushing the car when it put up those numbers?

and we dont get hot temperatures up here aha...we rarely see above 25C

btw that cosworth intake is sexy i cant wait to put mine in

Yes, definitely "pushing it" to make those numbers.. including upgrading turbos from the 60-1's to twin 67s.

Air intake temperature is largely a function of the turbo setup and intercooler - not as much the ambient air temp. We are normally 10-30c as well outside.

whats different about it? You just dont have that coolant reservoir in front of the motor.

Is that a 24x12x4" core there Hal?

Thanks for the heads up... if i can manage to get to installing my kit ill put a pyro on both exhaust banks and some think to check the temperature of the air pre-engine, post intercooler

Str8dum1: From what i can see the piping on the intake piping going from the intercooler, might just be the angle, the BOV is also in a different position. The SFR kit for the g35 i thought used twin intercoolers instead of just one?

We can set up the G with twin intercoolers or single intercooler. We also have large intercooler options including a 4.5" core which is capable of handling the job for extreme situations and lots of boost. When we run our cars on the dyno,we just cannot get enough airflow over the core with a fan so we wil use a spray bottle with water in it to keep the core temps down to what they would be if you were say driving 100 mph.It is just very difficult for a heat exchanger to work with no airflow.

Ah, where was this option when we needed it ? Just kidding Tim, you are always looking for ways to improve.

PS. Get bigger fans

Not on the Car, however i should be buying a truck this week 2010 tacoma, so if i can get that into my hands this week the car goes in the garage. Its really annoying, but i guess it goes to show you need to be more then prepared for anything.
