Doing a engine swap need Guidence
I have like 8 friends telling me that i should do a rb25 or 26 engine swap for my 350z because the say the vq doesnt make any power (which their wrong) my question is should i do the engine swap or just put on a single or twin turbo set up for my z since i all ready put in tons of time and money making this engine bullet proof. It puts down 380hp without any forced inductions

oh, answer to my question about your bullet proof engine has been answered by your profile. My bad, dyno slip please.

Why does everyone always say "put an RB in it" when you talk about engine swaps and Nissans? I am doing a Datsun 510 build right now and i hear that phrase way to often from people. The RB is a good engine, but its not the end all be all.

^It gets old dosent it, I know several guys with GT-R32s and I hear it steady swap in an RB. I see lots of RB-26s that fail due to the weak oil pump. It is well known that the early model RB-26s have weak oil pumps and need to be upgraded to a Nur-spec(R34) pump. So not only do you have the hassel of the swap you have to tear it down to swap oil pumps before you get started or your on borrowed time. I also see lots of local guys tune RB-26s they handle about 450whp on a stock bottom end any more and you pushing it. The Nur-engines again are better but they are scarce and don't come cheap. So unless your goal is strictly to be different its not a cost effective swap at all.
OP I am not sure why you want to swap in an engine with less technology and less displacement if I was looking to swap in an RB why not the RB-30 instead of a 25 or 26?
With the 380whp you have now add a Stillen super charger and you should tag the 500whp range.
