Default Vortech owners : Here is the place where to get 70K bearings.

Hey fellas.

Sorry if I havnt gotten back on PMs to a few people. I had to delete my PM box a few times and I lost track of some.

Due to a high amount of PMs I have been receiving about the vortech bearings, I decided to make this thread.

supercharger rebuilds.com and other companies sell them for WAY too much. $140 for one bearing. Doesnt even spin that high.

Just to clear things up for some people.. Getting 70K bearings doesnt mean you want to start spinning the blower that high, remember you are being limited by the stock impeller.

with that being said..

Heres where you go :

www.AlpineBearing.com

Contact: Call Now To Speak With a Bearings Specialist
Toll Free: (888) 218-1252

Make sure you ask for there BOSTON, MA distributor. Thats where I got mine from. They will give you another number for there boston MA office. ( I cant find it )

Bearing info:

- Super Precision Bearings
- These bearings are rated to 45K ( grease lubricated ) 70-75K ( oil lubricated )
- Made in ITALY
- Part number : EX17 7CE1 UL
- The bearings size ( for those who dont know ) I measured 17x35x10 ( output shaft bearings )
- The input shaft bearings are bigger ( I will update the size soon ) I have it written down somewhere

Price :

Output shaft bearing- Got em for $ 75!
Input shaft bearing - Unknown ( probably cheaper )

----------------------

They are SNFA type bearings. SNFA is NOT in the US. So dont bother searching for them. They were bought by SKF which are in the US, about a year ago. For some reason they only deal in Europe.

Lmk if you have any questions.

remember, you start taking things apart on your own and you get stuck, you are SOL! vortech wont touch it.

I say there might only be a few people on here that actually need that kinda speed. 99% of the vortech users are making weaksauce HP to begin with.

still waiting on someone to try that 928M impeller. That one kit has been sold and resold like 3x already with not even 1 dyno.

Thanks Vas...much appreciated...I have a 928 impeller on my rebuilt SC trim, but the bearings from 928 is only rated to 55k...

And str8dum1, I will post results on the 928 in about a month or so...engine build going on right now... but I probably won't match pharmd's numbers...

If the 928 underperforms I'll still have the SI trim...

HMMMMMMMM...u selling just the blower? Or u wanna trade my SI plus cash so you can still sell the whole kit?

Dude u got guts running TT in Cali...As much as i'd love to I just can't go there; just can't see myself uninstalling/reinstalling a TT whenever a Cali cop tells me to pop my hood...

Yep! your right, forgot to mention that.. Do this at your own risk. If you take the blower out your self the warranty is voided

are you expecting to reuse your seals after swapping bearings?

Ok so who is going to go all out on a Vortech / Wastegate combo spin it to 70k or so and see what happens? I would love to see a dyno on this, see where the efficiency drops off, and see a supercharger for once make a "turbo" dyno graph...

my dyno already looks like any other stock block turbo graph

typical stock block TT's

dont need fancy parts or crazy bearings to do that

but if you mean built block dynos, you'd need a physically larger blower like a YSI to make better #s

i just posted the graphs, there is not one that has noticeably better torque

trq = hp*5252/rpm

spot check the above graphs for yourself...

thats too common a myth that people are still very ignorant to on this site... when comparing stock blocks, a SC can max out the rods just the same as a turbo kit costing alot more money

Ok concept (and I think one guy has already done this and it has been talked about before). Vortech T-Trim spun to 70K putting out 25lbs of boost + Built Motor + 928 Motorsports bleed valve (wastegate set to 15psi) = Turbo Powerband My question and thoughts are making a supercharger perform much like a turbo where the overall potential of the blower is more than you need. The wastegate bleeds off excess boost so that full boost can be achieved earlier the same way a turbo does it. I know there are limitations to all of this but I'm just talking about theory here. The same could actually be done on a stock block and could be done for sure. I know that a turbo would be easier way to do all of this but it would be cool to see someone do this. I bet you could really make a supercharger "feel" like a turbo.
