i know having the 02 sensor on the CAT welded can cause a code for the CAT BUT the code is for the air fuel sensor ( o2 sensor on the exhaust manifold ) what would the welding of the cat have to do with it?

so, like i said earlier, i went under the car, and switched the connectors to the o2 sensors from the cats, so that the cats are now read oposite sides, so i can see if the cat infact is bad. After doin this i get the SES again after about 50 miles, and scanned. NOW im getting code p2a00 sensor 1 b1. SOOO that means the cat that was connected to drivers side, is now reading on passenger side, now thru a code for the passenger side air fuel ratio 02 sensor. so im guessing it really is the cat like nissan said? or is it thorwing this code becuase its reading the wrong side? also keep in mind, the code that was once for the a/f ratio 02 sensor bank2 ( driver side ) there is now no code... hmmm

the car doesnt know what side you connect to, it just assumes its hooked up correctly.

obviously if the code swapped sides when you swapped O2's, that's the problem.

Well I didn't change o2s, I simply swap the connectors from the o2s from the cats, but o2 are in original place.

So you move the Left connector and put it on the Right O2 and vice versa? That's the exact same thing as swapping the O2 sensors

If they won't fix the cat, get test pipes and call it a day...since you're going FI soon anyway.

That what I thought, but I was thinking, is it possible each side reads a little diff? I figured it was the same. Butttt anyway, I'm doing some more tests to make sure the code stays on the passenger side now, and dosnt come back to the left, if it dosbt, kit goes in next week . and I'm doing custom downpipes w/ 3inch exhaust custom too. Only 700 bucks vs cats/tp. Can't wait!

If you're able to put your kit in next week, and you're not keeping the exhaust, who cares if the cat is bad?
