Loading base map to Utec
Hey guys,
I finally got my car up and running again. I am trying to load the base map files from turboxs.com (550cc turbonectic map). The files save from the website as .txt files. Can these files be loaded directly to the Utec using the flash program as txt files?

Yes, the maps are just text files. You telnet in and upload them.
the afrs are going wild most lean at idle (15.0-18.1). It will take the occasional dip onto the rich side though.
The reason I think it is coolant is because of the water in the exhaust tips. just a guess.

If its just from the very first startup maybe its all the new exhaust pieces getting up to temp, my car smelled funky for awhile. not sure if it put out any smoke but didn't notice any.
Was this a new install and how was the car before the install?
Colder weather could cause the moisture, my stock car puts out a good bit at this time of year.

the engine has fresh oil ( 1 hour old ) and the coolant looks fine. This is a new motor installation (used motor) and has not been driven a single mile. I was loading the base maps to get her on the road. Basically at idle the car is spewing white smoke. I cant tell if the car is overheating as I have not driven it. The only reason I was thinking head gasket is because of the moisture in the exhaust from the tips, I could be mistaken.
The car is not overheating but, it also has not seen any load past idle or standing revs. The car running for a minute produced no heat from the AC. Ill have to wait until morning to let her run to check for over heating. My neighbors must already hate me from my loud *** exhaust.
roughly you have fuel + oxygen + nitrogen mixing and combusting......resulting in Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Nitric Oxides, Sulfur Dioxides, and ........... WATER.

If it was me, I'd monitor the water temp, oil pressure, and oil level, and see what happens. You might have a bad motor to start with. If any thing goes outside of normal ranges shut it down ASAP
Do you have any type of warranty on the motor if it is bad?
well this was an insurance job so I will be contacting them tomorrow about the issue before I drive it. I did not want to attempt to drive out the issue then they blame me because of the turbo kit.
Ill update you guys tomorrow on whats going on after I let it run for a bit.
Have a good night guys Thanks for yoru help

white smoke is usually an indication ofa blown head gasket, but oil smoke can also look white. You should be able to smell burning oil though!
I had an oil smoking problem once, but it was due to the way I had rerouted the crankcase evap hosing. switched it back, and all was fine.

ok after driving the car for about 50 miles...it seems alot of the junk was cleaned out of the motor. There is no more smoke under idle. Now, when I go into boost the car starts to smoke profusely, when I let off the smoke will dissipate. I am thinking maybe the installer did not replace the oil restrictor for the oil line going to the turbo. Would this cause the turbo to burn off the excess oil? The car also starts to over heat when I boost. This has only happened once. There might be a problem with the radiator fans as I was hearing a loud buzz coming from this area after turning off the car.
I am running on my previous tune the utec had and only boosting to 5-7 psi.

Didn't I point out not to hit any boost?
Now if you do have a bad motor it will be easy to point fingers at you.
Oil line goes from spacer to the turbo then back to the spacer, there's no restrictor that I know of.
My guess is once again, don't run boost with out getting it tuned.... you're running super rich and the smoke you see is excess fuel. Are you running the 600cc injectors? My car smoked so much when under any load even just pushing 0PSI that it fouled out the A/F meter placed into my exhaust when dyno tuning. Tuner had to remove it and clean it and put it back in in order to get it to read correctly. It was very rich!
again 550cc base map with 600cc injectors = very rich.

I forgot the over heating part, it could be that you're coolant system isnt working 100% + the added stress of the turbo. if its only 70-80 out I can't see the car over heating even with no fans as long as you're moving. Check to see if you're getting any bubbles in the radiator also make sure the water level is correct.
I am not running a base map. I am running my previous PL tune that was on the UTEC. The car only smokes with I go into boost and also over starts to over heat at that point as well. I am still going to get it retuned but, before I take it to the shop I want to try and prevent having to replace 100 parts troubleshooting my problem and pissing money down the toilet in the process. Im going to check the coolant system in the morning for the over heating. There is 0 smoke at idle or under normal driving conditions, only under boost.
Thanks for your input jeffie and others.
