Auto and slightly more lag from 20G IMO is a no no

Will be slower down low with not enough up top to make up for it = slow overall paired with your transmission

Id aim for 550whp and traction it will kick butt all day long with no missed shifts

Ok, thanks guys, great info and it all have saved me a bunch of money

So HR HG with L19 head bolts then to be on the safe side.

Thanks Alberto, I will keep the 18G and go around 550-600 as you said, I guess I will see when I get it in the car how far I can push it with good traction. I guess my next postings will have to be about suspension then

How about 800cc injectors, are they too big for my HP goals ??

Thanks Micael

No, 800cc injectors are definitely not too large for 600whp. They are just right or on the small end depending on the rest of your fuel system. Also we have L19 head studs in stock if you need, 888-465-7373

Thanks Hal, I might give you call about them, could you PM the price on them shipped to 94536.
Maybe I need to drive the car over there when it is done to have the Haltech and everything else fine tuned, have been looking for a good excuse to take a trip to KY again

If you don't have the injectors already I would suggest getting Denso/Deatchworks injectors. They are proven to be reliable and are PnP so install is simple and resale value is high.

+1 on avg... i guess raising rev limiter....traction controls...quite a few things can still be done....too instant downlow also wont help for traction
in any case, being AT and trying to make it streeatablei then you dont want to avoid lag.

Yeah, already have the injectors, I only heard good things about SARD, but that was for 300zx, hope they are still good and can get me to the power I'm looking for.

So how much should I raise the rev limiter, I'm hoping to get it to over 7000rpms, and I hope the mods I'm planing will get me there, but as pointed out the 18G will prob reach there max before that :|

Oh well working on getting my hand on everything right now, and will be moving on to traction and handling soon I guess. Need to read up more about the LSD, any inputs about that here, Nismo, OSG or what to get ??

Thanks Micael

Quaife = TEH BEST

http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ne&prodid=2349

Gear driven, no binding in tight corners.

If your car makes power on the 18G kit the way some others have that I have ridden in (Alberto, jtgli) by the time you get to 4500rpm your butthole will be puckered up. Getting power over 7K may not be the best goal and may just make the build more expensive.

Ok, will look in to the Quaife, I know they are good as well, just saw some deals on Nismo and Tomei and I know Tomei have some goodstuff as well, but I guess I have to make sure they are for AT as well and I saw that Quaife has one that is

Thanks Micael

Finally have the extra engine I bought in pieces, they said it had some rod knock, and I found a spun bearing. Guess I will have to have the engine builder have a look at that :|
Any one have any inputs about that ?? Will post some pic's after I uploaded them

You should have the crank inspected and go from there, and you are using new rods and bearings anyway so those wont matter.

Yeah I will have it inspected, just worried about the block and the area where the bearing spun, doesn't look so great :| but I hope it is all fine, as I want to get to the next step in this build, to finally put all the parts I have bought in to the car

A spun bearing shouldn't hurt the block unless something broke. Do you have pictures?

OK, after a very busy time at work the last 2 months, with not time for the engine is it time to get the final parts and get this build going. So I just have the pistons and rods left to get, plus rod bolts and a few other things. I guess the rest of the bolts should be ARP as well ?? Got the L19 for the heads. Rods pretty sure I will go with Eagle H, but pistons either CP or Wiesco, so 8,5:1 or 8,8:1. What do you guys recommend ??
Also what exhaust is recommended and should it be 3" or is 2,5" enough for my goals.

Thanks guys

I believe that the Eagle rods come with ARP rod bolts, but double check. I use ARP main studs as well.

8.8:1 got me to about 600 whp on 93 octane on a Mustang dyno, but this was really pushing the limits of the pump gas. If you want to shoot for higher than that, I would go with 8.5:1. Otherwise, 8.8:1 will be OK.

The advantage of 8.8:1 as compared to 8.5:1 will be a very small percentage of increased torque in the low rpms. I posted a chart I found a while back, maybe over a year ago, that showed compression ratio vs. efficiency. I don't remember exactly how much the difference will buy you. I'm guessing less than 1%, but try to search for the chart I posted the link to (It was published in a car magazine). Search on my screen name and the term "efficiency vs compression ratio". If you don't immediately find it, play with the search terms a bit.

Thanks, well I don't think I can go over 600rwhp with my AT anyway, so the lower end torque sounds pretty good I will check the bolts on the rods again.
And about the power, if needed i will run meth.

Regards Micael
