i just bought a motor from ipp/kyle, i'm 99% sure he's using acl.

anybody know if stock cams and very mild head work with stock valves wil rev to 7k and make power still?

We were revving mine to 7200rpm (mainly for track) with stock head/cams...

Power starts falling pretty hard above 6200rpm with stock non-revup cams....I know briguy got some help with a cosworth intake, but its still hurtin up there.

yeah...i know bri has an upgraded valve train, which i did not opt for. so in that regard, i was more unsure if the stock valve train could make it up there without any damage.

likely i'll just keep it at the stock 6600 limit for longevity's sake.

thanks for the info though thom! we gonna meet out this summer for a cruise? briguy was telling me your car is slow...

If I remember correctly, others are reving the stock valve train past 7k rpm, but using BC cams. GTM cams should work well too. Now, I don't know if there was any valve float going on. Maybe some of those guys can chime in here. I'll bet Tom has some good info on this.

For the street I shifted at stock redline (ok when the tach read stock redline, who knows what that really was rpm wise though lol....these gauges suck).

There isn't any damage, just more wear and tear over time for sure.

Ha of course my car is slow!!!!. Bri and I never got to line up (only met up once and it was actually about the last time I was out....clutch was slippin so bad it smelled like a metal smelter, and I could barely pull on Ron's car)

But that'll be fixed and a few changes....gotta make up for the extra G weight againgst you slim Z folks!!!!!! (fingers crossed for 650+rwhp on pump gas baby)

there is definately some float above 7k on stock setup.

I know BC says for the stage 2's you don't need to change springs and such, but you are certainly gonna be giving up something up top. Especially on a motor with miles! (my motor only had 17k miles on it when we tore it apart and valves still get some float).

Since going to 272's we are definately going with upgraded springs/shims!!!!

Based on BC's website, if those two dyno's are at same boost (everything else same), then the 272's make more power and tq everywhere!!!!! And never fall off up top.

Wonder if anyone knows if those are the same setup with just different cams.

650 mustang on pump will be a tall order as XKR didnt even do that with bigger turbos. Well I guess he coulda if Sharif kept pushing.

I am not sure what those dynos on BCs website are comparing. The stage 3 dyno is not comparing stage2 to stage 3 though....

I'm hoping though....

Vito's car (same bottom end as me), with 55mm billet turbos (mine are 58's rest same) and 264 cams (I'm trying 272's) made 621rwhp on pump (on same dyno)......so I'm hopin. VITO I'M COMIN FOR YA!!!!!

Car gets dropped off on monday now. Pretty much as fast as precision gets the turbos back to SP, the car will get done!!!!

Tom

P.S. - I took hp/tq vs rpm and plotted them on another graph to compare from the 2 diff dyno sheets on BC's site....guess we'll find out here in a couple weeks.

I am not sure what those dynos on BCs website are comparing. Stage 2's have zero gain then, if thats really a before and after as the Stage3s must be

Ya i forgot he made that much, but with alot more boost (18psi vs 14psi). twin 6262 should be fun but your twin 58s will be ok as well.

But if your curve looks stronger than Vitos on pump, XKR might have to reconsider long tubes

HEHEHE,
Since the exducer (is that the exhaust one always get them confused) is the same size on both 5557 and 5857 (at least thats what I've found so far online), lag should be about same as on both (i.e. within 500rpm)....but don't know what the cams will due to affect that as well.....

Granted I couldn't even guess what the tune was like for either car (2 different tuners on 2 different dyno's).

With any luck I'll be at ZdayZ and we can put all this long tube vs log to rest (or create a whole lot more controversy LOL)

We shall Z, I mean See.

hehe...i'm just bustin yer *****. when/where's the first chi-town meet this year?

i'll probably be shifting at stock redline then. i'm only running the aps single, so it's not like i'm going to make much power anyways.

Vas that pic of your car reminds me of a cat for some reason the canards are the wiskers, emblem the nose, opening the mouth, headlight eyes.
