tons of no-name companies make aftermarket parts. Do you want to be the one to test them out?

 

is there really a point to continue making ebay threads...? 1st the turbo kit now this...

well, i would just research the claims of the company. If they don't have any customers that they can direct you do and they don't produce any insurance documentation if there is a rod failure then i would run away from it.

There's also the obvious that they are 1/2-1/3 the price of every other set of rods on the market. That in itself should throw up red flags in your mind. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

 

add up the cost of replacing all the engine parts including the block, along with all the labor involved in a rebuild when the rod fails, and then come back and tell us it was a good deal.

truthfully, spend a lot of time on here before asking questions. Search for "rods" on here and see what all the real people that own their cars put in them. They are the ones that have used products and know the outcomes. And when it comes to thousands of dollars down the drain, go with a nationally known and INSURED company that will back up their products if it fails.

always be afraid of "the best deal". save 500$ on rods but you'll end up costing THOUSANDS in the long run.

my comments aren't meant to be mean. i'm just trying to bring a new person to reality of the car world. People will try to take your money and leave you to dry. You do'nt have to run what everyone else does but there are a number of top manufacturers that have researched, tested, and insured their products. Stick with any that are tried and true that way if something fails it will fall on them.

 

Eagle H beam rods cost about the same ~ $500 US.

 

I was just about to say the same thing, for $100-200 more you get the real proven stuff, eagles. Its risky building a motor with unknown knockoff parts.

 

Absolutely , 200$ is nothing compared to peace of mind and the certainty of a proven history

For academic reasons only Im still researching for the cheap ones, I’ll try to speak with people that have already bought them and installed them. I found one so far that is making 386 hp for 6 months now and is ok (so far)

 

no point in changing rods if you are only doing 386hp. Stock rods handle that just fine.

 

All feed back sounds good and honest from many members , I’ll keep asking members to see the entire picture .
If this supplier is decent it will be the discovery of the century and hopefully someone from here will be tempted to try one and enlighten all the others .

i'm sorry. I have not build that engine yet. I need more money to start on it.

But the Alfa 3.0 V6 conrods i bought from you last summer has been driven about 15 000km's with about 400bhp and works perfekt.

none of those cars are a vq35 engine

what we are saying here, you don't need to change the rods until you go for serious power. At that point is another 200$ worth risking the 10 grand you will invest?

 

A good set of rods is about a thousand hence 700 difference.

Taking it for granted that all 350z owners are millionaires , here Im making my statement “Im not” : )) . If a can find a proven solution half price I would go for it. Having bought many things (that work great) over the internet Im sure I can find evidence of a decent ebayer that is selling his goods without ripping us off. Im always trying not only to find the best solution but the best price also. Its not too hard to go to a shop throw 10k and get 100hp out of them. But it’s a good challenge to have the same result spending 5k or less. Some people think its impossible , maybe dangerous or even more expensive at the end of the day. My point is that there are some chances out there and at least it’s a good idea looking for them. And finally if there were only one solution to go about on every fix , upgrade or problem there were gonna be only one supplier one make and one product for each case on the entire market, obviously there are plenty of options out there for us to explore and decide accordingly.

 

200$ difference

With all the work done by yourself you can trade your block in for a build block with quailty parts by shops that back their products. 3500$ is about the going price for a build block trade in. Why waste time trying to piece together random parts with nobody backing them.

That gets you a built block, but a build block won't add hp, just add safety. You'll have to drop money on some sort of forced induction, ecu, etc. If you think you can get it below 5k then you bought the wrong car. Check this thread, 9k parts list that doesn't include FI:

Those rods are 300 Euro, or $400.58 in USD at todays conversion rate. We sell Eagle rods for $458 and have used them in dozens of builds and have proven their reliability and power handling well into the 500-600 HP range. I wouldn't take chances with a no-name rod. Eagle isn't the most respected or highest priced brand on the market but it is definitely more proven than those are.
