Default Tire Size help FI Owners

I hope i dont get flamed, anyways i understand that the normal tire size for zs are 245/35/19 for fronts and 275/35/19 rear but i was wondering if id be losing much performance if i went with a 235/35/19 front instead. I posted this in FI section because i will be boosted soon and wanted to hear input from current FI owners. My usage is Daily driving no track, just canyons

Main concern about going a little smaller is due to some minimal rubbing.

Power aiming for is about 380-400 whp

thanks

Those tire sizes seem a bit small. I wouldn't go with anything less than a 255 in front and 285 in the rear. What size rim? 19x???

You are rubbing with a 245/35? What width and offset wheels?

If you have VDC and you run a close stagger, such as 255/35 & 285/35 or 275/35 & 295/35 which is what I run now, you will find the car has VERY high limits in the corners. My VDC doesnt even kick in during serious back road driving unless Im not smooth with the throttle coming out of a corner.

Guys at ZdayZ didnt believe I left VDC on driving how I did till I started giving rides.

When I ran a 255/35 front and 295/35 rear the VDC kicked in way too early. I feel with a 235/45 and a 275/35 you will have the same premature issue. Of course its only an issue if you have it and would like to use it. You will have more of a tendency to understeer with that small of a front.

Guys sorry for missing info.

my wheels have about 7 offset with widths of 9.5 front and 10.5 rear. I am pretty much slammed about 3 inch off the ground. I am rubbing minimal in the front the only reason i wanna go with smaller front is cuz of sum rubbing

Everyone I dont have VDC so if i go too slowly on any driveway I will get stuck

once gain imy power goal is about 380-400 rwhp using the toyo proxes t1r

so the thought of bigger tires such as 255 or 285 is way too much

Alberto's response is pretty accurate. I have the same size wheels as you and when I get new tires it will be 255 in the front and 295 or 305 in the rear. Will be F/I on June 5 .

OP- + 7 offset is too far out to run a legit size tire. You are trading looks (objective) for performance at that point IMO. You have reached the limit of your offset.

I run +22 on all 4, at 9.5/10.5" and I run 275/295/35 with no rubbing.

MDHRZ-If you run such a small front with a large rear the car will understeer and if you care about VDC, or wish to use it forget it. Either run 255/285/35 or 275/295/35, or go for the small sidewall look and run 265/30 295/30. I hate that look and it adds wheel gap.

I can tell you from experience 255 front 295 rear looks stupid due to the rear having the pudge look and the front not matching. I dont think most would like the 275/295 pudge look on all 4 as I do, but I dont care it handles like a beast and actually raised my car a tad giving me clearance. Pic from a recent meet of new tires, only one I have ATM.

Default easy fix

All possible fixes for your slight rubbing:
1. get offsets in the 20-25 range
2. run less neg camber
3. raise the car half an inch
4. get smaller tires

i would say do either 2 or 3 seeing how it would be free

I actually like the pudge look a lot better on all 4. I'm running 255/285/35 right now. I might stick with that combo. Post up some more pics of your setup when you get a chance. Doesn't look like it has that 4x4 look either.

I fully agree. When the wheels/tires stick out past the fender, it creates unnecessary drag, which decreases performance. Then again, some people actually like that look and are willing to sacrifice performance to obtain that particular look. Personally, I don't like it when the wheels/tires stick out past the fenders, but to each their own. I run 305s rear and 265s front, and they are all tucked inside the fenders, but I have 30 offsets. After installing the wheels/tires, I realized that I easily had enough room to run 275s up front, which I wish I would have done. When my tires need to be replaced, I'll be moving to 275s up front, or possibly doing some wheel and fender replacements/modifications to go with 295s or 305s up front and 345s in the rear. I'll decide when the time comes.

I want as much grip as I can get. I plan on tracking it once a month on road courses in our area.

Also, at 550 whp, hooking up the 305s in the rear was a challenge. With the new 4.0L motor, it will be even harder. I also need to get more weight shifted to the rear. I am looking at moving my battery into the trunk. The obstical is that if the battery dies, how do I open the trunk? There is no manual release. I think I have a solution, but I need to work out the details a bit more. Also, I looked at dropping the transmission and going with a rear transaxle, but that is major $$$. Perhaps someday, but not anytime in the near future. Who knows, by that time I may just leave my G be and get a second play toy already configured with a rear transmission/transaxle.
