EDIT: One more point, if you run meth or meth/water injection you should probably re-tune. With straight water injection there should be no need to.
i'll considder it, when i have more money to put into it. I take it easy most of the time, but i think saving for a built motor is a good idea. what all should I do internally?

or basically what would you recommend saving up for.

Start searching the forum using the search feature. Virtually any questions you will have have been answered before. Anyway, I'll give you a head start.

I would by a built short block with suitable rods/pistons and race bearings from a reputable vendor who is thoroughly familiar with the VQ35DE. You can use the search feature to look into most of the various vendors involved with this forum. Also, run suitable headgaskets and head studs.

Pistons - there are a variety of good ones available, e.g., Wiseco, CP, Arias and Cosworth. Wiseco seem to be the most cost effective.

Rods - again, a lot of good ones available, e.g., Eagle, Pauter, Carillo, GTM, and FP is now trying another brand they like (I forgot the name). Eagle rods tend to be the most cost effective.

ACR are popular bearings, but some people use Cosworth. I don't know if there is any difference between the two.

For headgaskets, I'm partial to HKS, but I'm giving the HR headgaskets a try on my new build. Some people have good luck Cometic headgaskets, but I have heard of people who have not. So, personally, I would not use Cometic.

I'm using L19 head studs. Some have had good luck with HR head studs, but I think one person experienced head lift when he got to 675 whp or so.

Virtually anything you want to know about these various components will be answered when you search. Once you have finished searching, you should be in a very good position to make the decisions you need to make regarding your build.

One last thing... once you get used to 375 - 400 whp on a built short block, you will likely want more, at which point you will probably need larger fuel injectors and a fuel return system. If you are a 6MT, you should already have a stronger clutch, but you may need one even stronger. If you have an automatic, you will need to upgrade your transmission. There are countless other upgrades to consider, but I'll leave that for you to research.

awesome. thanks for the quick run down.

I wouldn't want anymore than 500 whp for a DD. That seems like quite a bit anyway.
I'd say with rods and pistons, 500whp would be atainable on my setup. Except for the clutch and flywheel, both are stock!
