Default Does my vortech need a rebuild?

Hi Guys,

Noticed that there has been a large amount oil spray and dirt accumulation around my SC area and decided to take it apart to take a look. I could not tell specifically if any area of the SC was leaking, but I'll let you guys be the judge from the pics. From what I can tell there is no play on the impeller bearings, so if I were to get a rebuild, I plan to send to 928 motorsports for a rebuild on the seals. So let me know what you guys think, do I need a rebuild?

Check the area around the cog pulley to see if the seals are leaking. They may just need to be replaced. If it's leaking and you let it go on like that, your bearings will eventually fail. Also my BPV looked the same as yours full of oil. I made a CAI for the blower and placed a breather filter on the back driverside valve cover. This fixed the problem until my bearings failed. Then the BPV got real dirty as well as my pipes and intercooler.

I my case the blower sounds fine ( I think..lol ) but it does leak some oil into the charge pipes. I'll just leave it like that till it fails and then I have an excuse to upgrade.

rebuilt it asap.. thats not normal.. you have way too much oil around the bpv and pipes.. a little is fine and normal.. but you got a lot more.

I would rebuilt it.. if you let it stay longer.. itll get worst.. it wont get better.

Checked the seal under the cog and it is fine, no signs of oil. At this point, still not very sure where the oil spray is coming from.

Check your sway bar. If it's covered in oil it's coming from your BPV. Send it out for rebuild to be safe. The folks at 928 will take care of you. You can also check with Superchargerrebuilds.com.

In my car the sway bar is clean and so is the surrounding area. It's just the BPV that's kinda oily and so are the pipes. It's been like that every since I installed it though and really hasn't gotten any worse....yet...lol. I also don't have any exterior leaks.

I don't have the PCV hose connected to the filter.

No oil on my swaybar either. I will try to reinstall the blower today and add a crankcase breather filter to see if it helps.

My PRV does the same thing. The left front wheel gets dirtier than the right front because the PRV is pointing that direction and since I'm an automatic, the PRV is always hissing/whining unless I'm at WOT when it closes completely.

Been that way since original install and tune but seems to run just fine and is putting out a little over 400rwhp.
