Default Check this intercooler out...

I bought an intercooler on ebay and they sent me the wrong one....but I've never seen an intercooler quite like this before so I just thought I'd post it up.

Must flow outstanding.....but can it cool?

Hahahahaa...I don't know who makes it....some kid in china for sure. I got it on ebay but it was sent incorrectly....I actually just wanted a bar and plate core. This is an extruded tube and fin core.

haha only reason I asked is bc I had the Godspeed one for my 240 when I had it. It was decent quality for the price. I figured maybe they stepped their game up or something

Pressure drop is usually low on an IC such as that, but since the internal surface area is low, cooling ability will suffer.

i think Greddy IC's are tube/fin

Nothing new there. There are pro/cons between tube/fin and bar/plate.

In the end, it wont matter much with low HP <500 applications

Would anyone here actually try this intercooler out?

like I said, Greddy's use tube/fin and you dont see anyone complaining.

Bar plate just offers more cooling surface area. That just means that a tube fin IC needs to be a lil bit bigger for the same effect.

bad *** company's like Full Race use tube-fin IC's on their custom IC's

So yes, I would use it without a doubt.

Well....I installed it along with two 12" fans I had in my garage. Preliminary results indicate that not only did my boost go up 1psi, but temps aren't any worse than my Spearco and intercooler recovery is instant ( unlike my spearco which would heat soak pretty bad ).

Tomorrow I'll test some more.

It looks like there was a manufacturing mistake made when that core was built. It does not have any internal fins.Cooling will be very minimal.

Today I finally had the chance to give it a good whirl ( First time driving on a dry road in 2 WEEKS! I hate how much it rains here...anyways... ). On a good run from about 10mph to 100mph ( 1st, 2nd, and top of 3rd on my 5AT ) my IAT's went up 41* ( from 95* to 136* ) and my peak boost was 13psi ( up from 12* I saw right before I switched intercoolers ).

From the looks of it, the cooling part is better than before with instant recovery ( the other intercooler would heat soak pretty bad ) and I saw a 1psi gain in boost.

Guess it's time to dyno it. I can't believe this $170 intercooler ( $125 after a refund from the seller due to his mistake on sending me the wrong one ) is apparently not bad at all.

Well it ís bigger than the stock one isn't it?

maybe it would be even better with a same size "normal" IC
