Default Woohoo...my freaking car finally has some *****!

I took my car today to the dyno to see what my new intercooler did for me and the results were astonishing!

402whp and 328wtrq, up from 367whp and 285wtrq. All from simply swapping out the stock vortech intercooler to a crappy ebay intercooler!

Keep in mind my car is a 5AT on 20" wheels which will put down lower numbers than most people here with 6MT's and 18's.

This was at 12psi on 93oct.

Want to know something funny though...I have a 3" cutout on my car and with it open I put 402whp and with it closed I put the same 402whp....lol....so much for the loud as **** cutout. :P

Wow is it really possible that the 35 hp increase is due to change in intercooler only? Wonder what the explanation could be? Congrats on the new #'s OP

I believe a lot has to do with the new intercooler being far less restrictive. Boost even went up 1psi with the new intercooler.

nice increase in numbers.

Did the tuner change the tune or was just straight dyno runs with no modifications.

Maybe the intercooler itself had a small boost leak and that's why you were loosing power.

I was thinking same thing...maybe core itself, or welds between core and endtanks had a boost leak...

good numbers.

your a/f is a bit high

You should compare the cutout vs not graph to see if there is more area under the curve. Dont just focus on the peak numbers. Your peaks could shift to different RPMS.

Glad to see you finally making power. Are you going to repair the blower now?

exactly what I was thinking too (leaks) and the associated retuning, because an IC core/design change is not going to change your boost level, when boost is determined by the pulley and exhaust setup

Congrats! Glad you're finally happy with the boost. By the way the A/F is a little lean LOL

Well all intercoolers experience some kind of pressure drop depending on resistance to airflow. A leak seems likely though. At least it's fixed with great results!!!
