Default Jet-Hot & F/I Apps...

I'm ordering a Powerlab GT37R kit and wanted to send the exhaust side of the turbo and exhaust/manifold piping to Jet-Hot for coating. Does anyone have any experience with them, specifically the newer extreme sterling coating? They advertise it holds up to 1700 degrees and holds it's shine up too 1500 degrees.

A few years back when I turbo charger my old Scion tC I did the Jet-hot 2000 which to say the least was a conservative move in fear the turbo would bake off the coating, stuff is rated to 2400 degrees. A friend of mine had his turbonectis manifold ceramic coated by someone local and it just baked off. This time around I want show and go with something a more bling bling.

Oh just in case anyone is wondering I'm going after the GT37R kit with the initial install to save on doing things over in the near future. Only $200 and a little more lag thins way. Seems like the smart thing to do with my goals.

Thanks for any input.

Old Scion tC

Although I wouldn't do red charge pipes again...

If you are ordering from Intense, they have a local shop that does Jet-Hot coating and all that stuff. I'm sure they can have it coated before they ship it if you want...

I highly recommend doing the coating. I have done parts in the past, and it does make a big difference. Also with the limited space on the powerlab install it would be worth while, to reduce under hood temps.

I'll give Pete another call. I just don't know if the extreme sterling coat will hold up to the boost temps. The exterior surfaces of the pipes shouldn't ever see the temp of the EGT. Now the exhaust side of the turbo I'll keep the heavy 2000 coating. Just looking for people with experience with the extreme sterling finish (1700 degrees).

heat wrapping the pipes is much more effective. Pretty sure i got the 1700 on my hot sides, but I also wrapped everything as well. the coating is holding up just fine though

This is true and has crossed my mind. I've seen some nice install threads where the pipes are wrapped up.

On the Powerlab kit, the fitment is so tight I would suggest the coating just to ensure it still fits perfect.

I got the 2000 done on my manifolds and hot pipes, outsides only. It has held up just fine so far.

I'd be interested to see how it does, and if Intense could get it done. It just seems uncomfortably tight on the downpipe when it is wrapped.

They work fine until oil leaks on them and they heat up and a fire starts. Then they are practically impossible to put out and your car burns to the ground. You can help this by spraying the ThermoTec high temp paint that they advertise for heat wrap. Its on Summit Racing. This will stop the fabric from becoming soaked and also help reduce temps further.

I personally like the Swain Tech White Lighenting coating. It is a true ceramic, which is why it is white in color.

The Jet Hot is a paint with ceramic particles and you can actually apply it yourself.

Swaint Tech is all Ceramic, must be ground of like metal to be removed and is about 2 or 3 times thicker then the Jet Hot. It is baked on like a ceramic pot to the metal and is much better.

Everyone knows ceramic knives and they are distinctly white.

I had my PowerLab GT35R kit (turbo housing and all hot pipes) coated in the Jet Hot extreme sterling silver coating and my brother had the same coating on his PowerLab GT35R kit on his 350Z. I’ve only been boosted for a month now, but his car has been boosted for 2 years now, and no issues with the Jet Hot coatings. I would highly recommend them.

Great to hear the Jet-Hot extreme sterling is holding up. I may still do the 2000 coating inside and out on the exhaust housing, I'm going to consult the guys at Sound before making any moves. Just wanted to get some feed back from the guys who have the coatings. Thanks.
