Default Hydra EMS

has anyone ever heard of them or this ECU? I came across a PowerLab kit for sale that includes this EMS, and with the amount of F/I people here, i'm surprised that was the first time i've heard of them.

There are two guys here that run them.

The Hydra has some nice features, but still not fully tested it yet.

I spoke to the designer of the hydra not to long ago, and you loose traction control and i believe the climate control for some reason. Why, i don't know.

The hardware is nice but the software is terrible. For the price point other options on the market are a lot nicer.

Do you guys have an email alert that if Hydra or Vinny ten is mention you all flock into the thread to promote LOL. Im sure its a good EMS if it provides results like that. But with the ability to only get it from 1 vendor it kind of limits peoples choices.

You sound so stupid right now. This is a thread structured to answer a question to a hydra ems. We can't help it if VTR is the shop to go to. In fact I really don't give a crap were you decide to bring your hydra box if you had one (which we all know from your dumb response you don't) So in closing if you have nothing positive to say or don't know any concrete information about the hydra or how it operates keep your comments to yourself! Thanks

Lol at this guy getting emotional. I gave as much info as you did. Its better then the AEM? WOW that makes it excellent i guess!

How easy is it to tune? WHat protection features does it have? How easy is the user interface compared to others?

Sorry I didnt join your circle jerk chant session of Vinny Ten's awesome EMS.

Jiggy hoe please stay on topic and don't take the thread somewhere it does not need to go. Again if you have nothing positive or no concrete evidence that a hydra ems does not perform better or up to par with other units on the market, keep your comments to yourself! Thanks and have fun circle jerking yourself!

To me its dated and confusing. The couple cars I have tuned I have always had issues with how many decimals it uses on the tables and other GUI problems that make me just not like the software.

But maybe this is because I have just gotten used to the haltech software which will pretty much spoil you as far as ease of use.

yeah i looked into getting this about a year ago but decided against it for the fact that no one can tune it without me having to take a very long road trip. from what i've read its not a bad set up though, its all in the eye of the beholder i guess.

FCON VPRO and Haltech are the most common F/I EMS's used on the G/Z platform from my experience and from what I've read over the years. Uprev has also become fairly popular on mild/medium builds. Any others seem to be promoted by a single shop (e.g. ProEFI, Hydra), and unless you're willing to stick with those particular shops from beginning to end I'd look for a more popular solution.

By no means do you have to stick to a particular shop with Hydra or proefi. The software is publicly available for both platforms. The proefi stuff is actually very nice and have been thinking about using it on my car so I can become more familiar with it.
