Default maybe selling my motor..guaging interest/ opinions

So I have a rev up vq...its got an APS single turbo setup with a GTM upgrade kit...it has 32,000miles and runs great...made 408WHP and 399TQ...

I am looking at doing a 2jz swap...

What would you guys think I should ask for the motor? I was thinking 5g?? This is with a trans and stage 4 cluch and flywheel

Why are you doing a 2jz swap? I thought VQ motors are way better than 2jz

2jz > vq

850whp on a stock 2JZ-GTE is a better motor to me.

Sounds like you got a stock motor

or is it a built motor?

If it's built lay out some specs to get a better assesment

you need to take into addition of ems +3k, tune +600$, fuel system +1500$, turbo kit +5-7k, install of the turbo kit if not doing it at the same time of motor swap $$, plus all the other crap it takes a supra 850whp. you make it sound like stock 2jz +boost controller= 850whp. take a look at the mod list of a 850whp supra and guaranteed almost none of them have even stock heads/cams.

Good stuff zmedic... Also OP you have to consider if your inspections will allow you to swap in an older motor. The 2JZ motor is OBDI if I recall. Most will allow an older motor, but I would check around first. Also why not do a V8? Are you just after numbers? Are you going to track the car? Is this a dyno queen? Most supra's I know with 850whp are either drag cars orrrr dyno queens. Either way should be a "hold on wait" fun type of car.

Most of the guys I know with Supra's are rolling around with 500+ with no other significant mods. Only a few are pushing 700+ and there just tire roasters that cant hook up untill 100Mph+.

plus i do alot of car shows and a 2jz looks pretty sitting in there :P

do you guys think 5g sounds reasonable?? thats a good running motor with a gt35r and 44mm wastgate, bigger injectors and unichip with transmission (stage 4 competition clutch and 14.5 lb flywheel)

Is that $5000 for a stock motor, tranny, and upgraded clutch? Even with those miles that seems kind of high to me. Now, if you were including your turbo setup with the engine, tranny, and upgraded clutch, then that is a good deal.

$5000 is a good price for everything with the APS and GTM upgrade.

ya 5k would be good price for a drop in setup. not many people would want a additional stock motor... Good for sentra etc swaps though

big singles are WAY less streetable. its the nature of their power curve. on/off, esp if you want 6-700whp.

you can make 500+ NA with a LS2 swap. doesnt make sense to downgrade your motor both in displacement and headflow just to have a iron block.

A built VQ can make 6-700 just as easily and for less money (unless you are a good welder/fabricator)

This guy spent $21,000 on the swap.

21g is a lil much....with all the parts i should be able to do the swap for under 10...then if i sell my motor...hopefully only about 5....

the 2jz with 6sp trans is only 5g...then the kit (with everything i need) is 2,300...then i figure about 3g in odds and ends...(thats minus the parts i already have)

so youre gonna do all the labor then... then yes it will end up costing about the same as building a VQ.
