Default Guys with Cosworth Plenum - endcap sealing question

For you guys that have removed the CF endcaps, are you replacing the Cosworth o-ring or are you having luck using a bead of RTV? I know there has been some success getting the endcaps to seal using some black RTV but none of the threads I have found mention replacing the rubber seal or just getting rid of it all together.

I will also be using Loctite on the allen bolts as several of them were not even finger tight.

I have one side leaking a little bit (can only tell when spraying a lot of w/m). I used RTV, but that one side I remember shifted a bit before I locked it down so the beading may have moved. I plan to redo it - same as before, o ring with black RTV - Sharif sent me new beading for very low cost

Use an O-ring and a light fillet of grey RTV. Chad, if you need another o-ring just let me know and I will have the guys ship you one.

Sorry I should have elaborated , does the RTV have an acid, alkaline or neutral cure. Will the carbon fibre caps be affected in any way?

Thanks for the help guys. I will be pulling out all of the allen bolts and using Loctite on them. Every bolt was loose and one was missing (the one closest to the throttle body). The one closest to the oil filler neck was also pretty close to coming out. Hopefully all the Cosworth owners are checking them regularly. My car has not been through many heat cycles since the plenum was installed so it's a little surprising that they backed out so quickly.

Most of us found out the hard way, but I think the majority use loctite now and I have seen it recommended in every thread I have seen on the cosworth lately. As Rich said Loctite them and put them out of your mind.

Agreed. It was absolutely installation error. I have only driven my car a few times since the Cosworth was installed and every bolt was loose and the RTV barely had any coverage area. If a thread locker had been used there shouldn't have been an issue. Oh well, I guess I am somewhat glad that I pulled to plenum to fix it, now I have uncovered other things that were done incorrectly on the car

Once I used the RTV and loctite I have not had any leaking issues at all, so if done right the first time it likely would have never leaked. I didn't really think the bolts would have required loctite if I wasn't spraying meth I might not have even noticed that it was leaking as they were small leaks along the edges.

I didn't see anything in this thread and instructions provided by Cosworth did not address end cap installation.

What amount of torque it apply to the bolts?

Removing to Polish and heard Cosworth could void warranty if too much material is removed. Makes sense for them but makes me has irate to ask too much.

Thanks
