Default Quieting a Vortech?

I love the sound it makes when the boost valve opens after a rev. but it attracts much attention just driving around.

I have heard of using a filter on the dump but would like to see how it was done as well as had it had any negative effects (Surging, loss of performance) What has been done to quiet it down a-little?

superchargersonline sells the filter and there are no negative effects to it..ill tell u now it doesnt do much if anything..i ran with it on but really not a huge difference..there is nothing u can do to quiet it down besides recirculating it back into the intake tube which nobody has done to my knowledge because of the many reasons...something u gotta deal with....

the vortech is just quite loud when venting to the atmosphere under normal driving...drive in a higher gear around town so ur rpm's are lower and it will be quieter

Add the Filter with a layer of 1/4" soft dense foam around the inside of the filter, works very well. It takes out 80%-90% of the BOV sound.

This was one of the very first modifications I made to my car after installing the SC and have not touched it in over 6 years.

If you like less noise, Do it........

Also with the stock Idle of about 650rpm, the back-lash in the gears in the SC makes a lot of un-wanted noise, raising the idle rpm to 800-850 will eliminate it.

you can always vent the BPV back into your supercharger intake.

z car garage has installed a longer version of this on a few vortech Gs & Zs. i've heard one and its definitely much quieter than stock.

Thanks Much love the info here!

I have the idle up at 800 so the gear noise is fine
I knew getting into a supercharger that their will be
some noise and I enjoy the blow off at high rpm.

But under normal low rpm driving it attracts to much attention and Johnnie Law checking it out is not what I
want.

I like the info and will try it out Thanks.

let me know how it goes. this is prob the main reason i'm looking at hks as opposed to vortech. if you can make the vortech more quite than hks, then i'll have much less reason to think about hks.

any negative effects from venting BOV back to the blower?

also re "Add the Filter with a layer of 1/4" soft dense foam around the inside of the filter, works very well. It takes out 80%-90% of the BOV sound." i'm not sure if i understand your pic. does the foam have any neg effects? do you have any other pics of this (different angles)?

if this works, then it actually makes vortech more quite than hks!??!! would love to listen to some audio of the engin in you have any

NO..... It is routed back to the Intake, not really to the Blower.

Sorry, no more pic's
