Default Is the block out of a pathfinder the same as ours?

I found someone that has a VQ35DE out of a 2003-2004 pathfinder ( he's not sure on the year ). It has what seems to be a blown head gasket but the bottom end turns just fine. He wants $100 for it. It's a STEAL!

It's a steal only if it fits though. Can I use the engine in my car and swap out the intake manifold stuff? I searched but the topics are few and no concrete answers.

I care mostly for the block and crank shaft. If those parts fit then everything else I don't care much for. Not for $100 anyways...lol.

for $100 investment... im sure you will get your monies worth... just saying I belive the block is different cause it uses a diffent block... not to say it won't work Im sure things will bolt up to it the same.., but important things like motormount location possibly different like the fwds or oil galleys might not line up properly... only $100 will tell the answer
I say go for it!!!

It's a vq35de...I'd jump on it for a spare block to build If it doesn't fit, someone with a pathfinder's gonna be REALLY happy.

I AM going to build the block. I just need a block to build as mine is likely destroyed.

$100, its worth the risk.

if you can use it, its only $100 thrown away.

That would be great!

I would be very interested if they are a match.
It could be a good winter build.

Any one have a buddy at Nissan that could check?

What makes your block unsalvageable?

I'm not 100% sure it's not...I'll hopefully find out on sunday. But looking at the damage that was done, I doubt it survived unharmed.

heads and pistons are different, block itself I do not know the answer to. heads and pistons you might be able to sell (pistons are flat top and the heads have different intake ports on them, they have intake ports that would make them conducive to using earlier style FWD intake manifolds).

I've actually kicked around the idea of using pathfinder heads and pistons in my 3.5 maxima for various reasons.
