for some reason i can't find the dyno's, but anyone have the images, or the numbers for hp/torq gains from 3.12 pulley from 3.33? from what i remember, it was ~30 hp and 10-15 trq but not sure. thanks

3.33 pulley will make about 350whp, 3.12 anywhere from 30-50whp and torque from what i experienced...3.12 pulley brings the boost in sooner and a little harder..honestly the 3.33 is weak and the 3.12 wakes it up pretty good

Sounds good, thanks. I'll talk to my tuner again and see if they're ok with using 3.12 pulley (i hes not comfortable, i can ask anonther tuner to do it)'and stock car injectors vortech complete kit.

Re gauges, besides wideband and boost, do you think i should get fuel pressure gauge or oil temp?

As for

With the completely stock Out of the Box (no tuning) Vortech kit with 3.33 pulley and a completely stock car, my car made 324whp.... but it was Pig Rich (9.5-10 afr's) 03 350z

With the 3.12 pulley added, miner tuning and cat back exhaust it made 394whp, still very rich (10.8-11.2 afr's).

That's pretty impressive! So this further confirms that the vortech kit/3.12 pulley combo with a good tune doesn't need to have the upgraded pump/injectors. What kind of boosts were you getting before and after the upgrade.

8psi with 3.33
10psi with 3.12

Added Headers, Test pipes, Walbro pump, injectors, ect
12-13 with 2.87 @ 6600rpm
13-14 with 2.87 @ 7100rpm
14-15 with 2.87 @ 7100rpm and 4 x 12 x 24 core intercooler

No this does not confirm anything, the fuel system was pretty much maxed out with the 3.12......Do your self a favor and install a Walbro pump and larger injectors or Not.........

ok, so it seems I may be taking a chance w/ going w/ 3.12 on stock fuel system. do you know if I can run SS box w/ upgraded pump/injectors, or do I also need to change the EMS?

Also, besides the boost/AFR, what would be the best/usefull third gauge to get? I'm thinking oil temp vs fuel pressure. However I'm not sure oil temp gauge would be as usefull on the V3 model as I'm not sharing my engine oil w/ the SC, any thoughts?

im telling u that u would be fine on stock fuel system with that pulley,i never had a problem along with many others but if u want to upgrade then yes u can throw a walbro 255 in the tank and use the inline pump from vortech and fmu and all and u can run up to 550cc injectors with the ss box..it isnt able to scale larger injectors than that(or at least very well)...thats the setup i was going to run with the 2.87 pulley..

i would go with fuel pressure over oil temp if it were me and u feel the need for a 3rd gauge

thanks m8, very useful info indeed. i've looked at a lot of posts and i hadn't noticed that you can run the ss box w/ 550cc injectors/ walbro 255 fuel pump. good to know that there's that upgrade plan in case i want to go 2.87

re fuel pressure gauge, what abnormality would an abnormal number show? for example, if the pressure is too high, would it be due to small injectors, small fuel lines, small pump, all, none, or an unknown combo of all? trying to see if an abnormal number would be actually useful to me to pinpoint the cause of a problem. i guess it's better than not having it, and not knowing that there is a bottleneck somewhere. Although if there was a large enough bottleneck, AFR would be off as well i suppose.

there's so much to learn!

Ordered the Vortech V3 and gauges, anxiously waiting... I ended up getting AFR/boost/oil temp gauges (w/ AFR bong to the stock header.) When/if I upgrade to 3.12 pulley w/ extra's, I'll get a second AFR to the other header, and fuel pressure gauge. Prob way overkill..

Also it was suggested to me to get the stillen HFC but am holding off since I live in Cali and don't want to deal w/ the fix-it ticket if caught.

Maybe when/if I turn this car into a weekend/track car, I'll get headers/HFC's... Should prob help w/ flow, and HP/Trq.

At this point, waiting for Vortech to send their kit.

i wouldnt put the a/f gauge in the header...just put a bung on the stock cat for it but before the catalyst part...i have never seen one in the header and would be much more of a pain in the *** ..normally they go pre cat but still on the cat pipe not the header

The shop guys whom I've spoken to recommended putting it there (I may have misunderstood...) I'll talk to them again and see if they can put a bung on the stock cat. I too was under the impression that you can put it on the stock cat.

These guys are pretty good, I'm sure they'll do what's best.

Alternatively I may just hold off on the gauges too for now, till I go 3.12. Then I'll upgrade header/cats, etc and put the gauges. this way I don't have to pay the $500 install fee for the gauges and save up for some components to be installed in a few months...

Yea, and wheels/tires... The stocks are woefully inadequate at 400whp...

Nice! That should do it.

With the stock brakes on my first FI Build (ST @ 380rwhp) the brakes faded ultra-quickly whenever I really pushed the car.

I went with StopTech Trophy's. Lot's of great options out there...
