I'm pushing 500 on a mustang dyno with 93 octane, 650cc injectors, and walboro. Injectors are maxed out btw. In my case the injectors were the restriction. Waiting for my methonal injection tune on the same setup. should net over 550 easy. I really need to do a FRS of some sort.
Thanks to everyone who has shared their input. Very informative Thread thus far.

There are enough variables already when going to the kind of power levels you're talking about here. I think investing in a FRS is a pretty smart move...

Agreed. It is a fairly easy conversion and inexpensive relative to the big picture. Might as well put the RFS in and be safe rather than sorry.

You 'could' do it.

it seems odd that you would spend big money for an Fcon and not get a return system.

If you are low on cash, track down a APS 'off the assembly' style return. for 500 hp, it should be plenty. 1000cc injectors seem like a bit much. Do you plan on running E85?

1000cc injectors will idle perfectly with the right ems. no reason not to use the biggest injector that idles well in your setup. one less thing to change down the road.

Sorry man, I really do not know where the fuel pressure is at. I'm running w a UTEC right now but plan on upgrading down the line with some 1000cc, FRS, and Haltech.

BTW this is on a PowerLab GT35R Kit and a few goodies

How about drilling out the restrictor plates to help open things up a little?

I am guessing these are HKS 1000cc Low Z injectors?

my point-> why buy 1000cc low Z for 1200 bucks when you can get smaller High Z injectors 400 bucks less and still have plenty of injector left? All the while, NOT buying a return system

ya, if you got them for a good price then use them but they are definite over kill for this setup. A single walbro will run out near the same time that 600cc injectors will max. My duty cycle on 800cc injectors was just high enough that i would have been over 600cc injectors but then my walbro couldn't keep up.

If 500hp is your goal (which is prob going ot be the max on the powerlab kit as we've seen even with the larger hotside housing) then a single walbro on a return system will be perfect.

Without a return system you will probably have to use something similar to a vortech FMU that raises pressure but then again maybe not with 1000cc injectors.

Truthfully, I think the cjm stage 1 is only around 300$ now and is a great buy. You will be able to adjust fuel pressure which will benefit your idle with those large injectors. If you drop that fuel pressure down you can get closer to 14.7 idle with those 1000cc injectors. Other than controlling the fuel pressure easily there wouldn't really be a benefit with reguards to your goals.

That being said, 300$ is definitely worth it. 51psi at idle (stock fuel pressure) would make you idle crazy rich on 1000cc injectors. I'm idling at 35psi with my hks 1000's and i have to dial the injectors way back in my haltech to get stoich idle.

what about having an APS style system with 830cc deatchwerks injectors? i'm not too familiar with the CJ stage 0 system but i thought it was similar in setup to the modifications that come with the APS kits.

It's more expensive and overly complicated for what it does. Most people using APS kits don't use the junk system that comes with them. Just like the junk FMU that vortech sends out. It gets the job done but isn't ideal. It just bumps up fuel pressure.

CJM makes great products and is one of the top fuel system companies for our vehicles. It's a basic return system that has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with rising boost reference.

AAM makes a basic setup that a lot of people also use but it's 150-200$ more expensive than CJM's basic setup and they both essentially are the same setup.

I'm running 1 walbro 255lph stock feed system and 880cc injectors along with a kenne belle boostapump on my fuel pump and making 543whp on my HR and injectors still aren't maxed out or pump with the boostapump on it, but they are close...I could still add a few more degrees of timing and a little more fuel and maybe squeeze it out to about 560-575whp probably but not wanting to push the motor too far just yet on stock system but I run it daily at 543whp with no problems at all...

i already have the aps fuel setup as it came with the kit...so it's not like i'd be buying their fuel setup. i do agree, if i did "need" to buy something, CJM is where my money would go.

the stage 0 cjm system is offered on their website for ~$400, the stage 1 is nearly a grand. i think i'm like the op, in that if i can safely make ~550rwhp without needing to spend another thousand dollars then why spend the money?
