I don't have a spec sheet for them and can't find the info anywhere...how much clearance should they have? I'm guessing .0035 which seems to be the norm regardless of manufacturer.

They are CP 8.5:1 .020 ( 96mm ) overbore.

well as long as the are checked for roundness, and scolding, and imperfections, if a TRUSTED machine shop gives it an okay. then why not. Pistons arent like condoms. lol more or less like tupperware. lol

Why bother posting if you aren't going to answer the question?

Anyone know the answer to this?

I used CP pistons mate. I'll have a look later if I still have he spec sheet for them. I'm sure the 0.0035 or 0.0030 is what my machine shop used. I have zero piston slap on cold start too which is good!

Ask your machinist what his experience is with CP, or, do the smart thing, and just call CP and ask them

Your going to hate the vortech with that CR. It will be very slugish and unresponsive on the lower rpm range. I have driven a z with 8.8:1 CR and a vortech running around 14 lbs of boost and all i have to say is it was terrible to drive. Dump the vortech and get a turbo setup if that is the kind of engine you plan on building.

If you call CP they will provide you with the spec sheet... if you have a hard time with CP I can dig mine up and find it somewhere...

I know, and I wasn't going to go with anything less than stock CR but the price was too good say no to. Also, this car isn't my daily driver anymore so it really shouldn't be much of an issue. Plus, I plan on pushing 18+psi. If the low end is too terrible, I'll just give it a small shot of N2O or go with 4.08 gears...lol.

So the money you saved by buying used pistons and rods you are going to spend on N2O to make up for their shortcomings?

I was wondering the same thing. Why not just buy what you want and do it how you want the first time. If I ever built the VQ with a SC it would be higher than stock CR and E85.

You have to be the most hard headed person I've ever seen on this site.

You DO know that N2O will give me 10 times the power high compression pistons will right? Also, I can get a basic system for under $500...that's less than what I saved from buying the pistons. It'll also make me faster than any piston ever will.

Why is it so hard for you guys to answer a simple question? I opened this thread to ask a simple question and almost every thread has been criticizing, just like always. Last I recall, I have yet to receive a single dime from you guys helping me on my setup. No wonder people here rarely do anything cool and creative...you guys only know how to spend $30K on setups that other people build for you. Wow...

IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR MY QUESTION, PLEASE DON'T POST.

EDIT: I'm not trying to generalize because some poeple have been very helpful but most have just been a pain in the azz.

Heres a link to Ring Installation and Cylinder Honing recommendations, you'll need this too. http://www.cp-carrillo.com/LinkClick...Ls%3d&tabid=74

Are you also going to use the Used Rings that came with the Pistions?

WISE WORDs!!! Youre right usually the people that critize are the 30k spenders that give their car to a shop and thats it, and usually have no insight as to how a motor works and when their setups blow they actually believe the shop when they tell them it was an oil pump failure. smh MORE SO, the people who aslo critize are usually STOCK! (Twerps) so i feel your pain. all of the side remarks arent needed. sometimes i wish you could put a face on the username of people who post on here. fake **** cyberbullies. SMH

I had already downloaded that. Thanks. I bought new rings as they are pretty cheap.

It's crazy...I've had just about every brand there is and have been on every brand forums and this has got to be one of the worse in terms of people criticizing EVERYTHING.

I'll tell you something though, I think the Honda forums has got to be one of the best when it comes to people thinking outside of the box. Sadly, I hate Honda's.
