i went and bought the 8.8:1 cr, because with our environment, stock cr pistons are **** to detonation with a little adjustment to timing.. so it's gonna be really bad to go with higher cr.
i put the build on hold since it's summer time, but now the weather is changing, i guess it's time to start now.
I think engine management has gotten better and we can detect knock easier than back in the day.
On the flipside - turbo technology has gotten better, smaller turbos can flow more air, bigger turbos can spool-up faster, more options of blowers are on the market, and prices have come down on turbos overall.
Anything from 8:1 to 14:1 ... why American is the best country in the world!
It's all about 10.3 (stock)+ lower compression give you a larger margin of error, with modern technology the ECU can catch knock before damage should occur.
I'm going Wiseco 11:1 with their boostline rods, dynosty billet girdle, L19s, Tomei HGs, and a garrett G35-900 on my momentum kit. Plan to shoot for 500-550 on low boost 93 pump and 700ish on high boost 93 + boostane additive.
Edit: I called Wiseco today to confirm the 11:1 96mm pistons don't have material removed for weight for an NA application. They do not, and was told I'm completely good to go at the power levels above.

They do the boostline for the VQ? I don’t recall that unless you’re doing a custom order.
Also Try Klotz.... HiTrate, Good Stuff
14 oz's in per Gallon, make 93 pump into 106 Octane Race Gas.
I used it a lot and it worked great.
Added 1 Gallon to 9 gallons of pump gas and make 10 gallons of 106 for $47, on bad.
