What would you do?
Keep the 350z, build it the way you want. Then when you get back buy a new sporty fun to drive daily driver, something along the lines of an BMW M3 or Audi RS4, etc..

In my opinion, it is a really great system. High quality components. There are not many out there. They were popular when they first hit the market, however, everyone was popping motors right and left with the Technosquare re-flash. After that, the system never regained popularity much. PE customer service, or lack thereof, hurt sales too.
If I keep the car and build it, I want to be one of the few PE TT systems out there that were taken seriously. Built motor, managed by a Fcon-pro. I will have a daily driver map, as well as an E85 map. I am not out there looking for 800whp. To me, that kind of power is just not streetable, especially here in the pacific northwest. Smaller, quick-spooling turbos, producing 550whp sounds great to me.
I think boosting would actually be cheaper if the stock block of a 370z can reliably hold 500whp. Otherwise, I am building my VQ35DE...hmm...more to think about.
I've never heard of a PE kit making 550 whp, especially on a low compression motor. By far the best bang for the buck is to keep the 350z. I'd sell the PE kit or at least swap the turbos and put GT28s in like Philthy did. Even then I don't think he cracked 500 on Sharif's dyno (without nitrous).
if it were me, sell the Z, and get a 370 or something better when you get back. the 350 is nice, but the 370 is soooo much nicer. I have mid 500's on my build and while it is a blast, the 370 is nicer looking, is better out of box, and the interior is 10-fold better. besides, you will throw all that into a 350 and it will still only be worth about 16 grand. part it out now while you can and sell the car.

I was thinking the same thing. The PE kit would be great on a stock block, but less than ideal for a built motor. The turbos are just too small.
Another thing to consider besides dollars & cents... Aside from a whp goal, what kind of torque and powerband are you looking for? Twin turbo setups on the 370Z thus far have been making significantly less torque than typically seen on a 350Z at the same whp level. The VQ35DE has more torque delivery, especially in the lower half of the RPM range. On the the other hand the VQ37VHR motor excels at making top end power. The difference in the torque and powerband is very noticeable even in stock NA form. I like my 370Z, but I loved my G35. IMO the low end torque on the VQ35DE is more fun for city street driving from stop light to stop light. But the top end power makes the 370Z more fun on the highway.
If I were in your shoes, I'd sell the PE kit and build the 350Z with another proven turbo kit to achieve your power goals.

Swap out the PE's to larger turbos and enjoy ur toys...
Get the 370 and TT it on the stock block, or TT the stock block on the 350. I recently drove a lightly modded 370 it is such a great car and the interior is much nicer than the 350.
tough pick.
tough pick.
Pilot, You have a pretty unique car there. Having only 18k miles I would just keep it and see what the prospects are in two years. It is very rare to find a car with this milage and the condition your car is in (assuming in a perfect cond).
Thanks man. Keep it, but consider a better kit for a built motor.
Even after all these years, I still feel a well setup Greddy kit (18G) will beat most anything outside of a custom ST/TT or modified kit.
No other off the shelf kit can produce peak power with a powerband like the Greddy. Id rape anyone that begs to differ.
