Vortech install = Car wont start
I just finished my Vortech install..
2005 Z, New Kit from Vortech
I've gone through teh directions 3 times...
Double checked fuel lines
Triple checked my wiring...
Removed butt connectors and soldered all leads...
Car turns over, bumbles and stops.
I dont think it even "starts"
Spark plugs werent touched...
I'm 99% sure there is fuel present as the fuel lines are hard (were soft prior to initial start attempt)
Plan to troubleshoot further -
(it's 22 degrees outside, and my garage doesnt have heat, and my propane tank went dry... so i'm done for the night)
Bypass Vortech FMU, to see if it starts...
If that doesnt work -
Remove the Timing controller, and remove the COG belt...
IF I remove the timing controller (Resolder the ECU back to stock) and remove the COG belt, can i drive like normal?
I need to drive the car home tomorrow, working or not...

I never used the SS box so I'm not sure, but I was under the impression that it needed to be programmed before you would be able to run the car. Am I wrong?
I believe it is ready to run in its stock form, for the 3.33 pulley, which i have on for now. the programming port has a "dont touch me" sticker on it that says not to break this seal...
Alright, just a guess.
If you have fuel and the engine cranks, the missing ingredient would be spark. You could try pulling a coil pack and see if you get a spark when you turn it over. If you do that it also wouldn't hurt to pull a plug and sniff for gas to make sure its actually making its way to the combustion chamber.
Is there any way to tell if the ss box is powered up and functioning?
Could you possibly have blown a fuse on the car while soldering the ss box in?

I'll check all the fuses tomorrow morning, but the battery was fully disconnected while working with teh ECU.
Check the FSM for the correct wiring pins on your stock ECU for each spark plug. You might have grabbed the wrong wires if you went strictly off Vortech's instructions, each year/gen is a little different.
I counted the pins, and the colors did match up. I even counted a 3rd time...
I'm going to go out and count a fourth time and grab my FSM and see if theres any discremancy's.
Got it running...
Note to future self...
When installing anything, re-plug-in ALL wires you unplug.
I unplugged teh Throttle position sensor to remove the manifold... And didnt plug it back in...
Fired right up...
Now the garage door is frozen shut... So i have to wait for it to de-thaw... dang it...
