Stock gears best for FI??
i run a 3.9 gear with 475whp and it does not seem to bad for traction. I have 285 kdw's on a 20" Volk and i can get a decent launch. But i would stick with stock gears like others have mentioned then look at 3.3 gears when at 600whp.
He hasn't ran it at the track that I know of. When it warms up I'm interested to see how it runs in the 1/4. You may be right Alberto and fact that you will need to shift 4 times would be a struggle at the track. I do have wheel spin in 1st and some in 2nd but I also have stock camber and crap tires. I think with the right tires and camber settings a Vortech may prove to be pretty quick. Has anyone out there ran a geared vortech at the track? Seems like even the stock gears and 6600 redline limit you to 114 in 4th gear at the end so you may even have to shift 4 times to get to 115+. The 4.08 would be perfect if you could trap around 120-121. Mickey's of course would be a must, and even going to like a 26" tire to make it cross the finish line even higher into 5th's power close to redline (5th tops out @ 125 with stock height tires). But I only think Tyler has hit 120 on a vortech setup so far. I may do this mod this year and if I do I will do a full write up and go to the track before and after as this seems to be an age old question of getting a gear with the Vortech.
Forget the SN but IIRC a 28" tire Vorect ran 11.8 @ 116mph around 400whp-old350z something?? But that guy can drive, which about 90% of the people on here cant. They would rather spend money on $250 valve stems than go learn how to handle their cars....
