Default Most HP made with stock headers

Like the title states, I am looking for the highest/most HP made on the VQ with stock headers. Dyno sheet and build specs would be of great help.

I ask because I am thinking about offering headers as an option to go with the ST kit. But I thought I ask if there has been problems with the OEM headers first.

I have set here that I will open up in the next day or two to see, like I did with the OEM style rear muffler a while back.

pretty sure all the Powerlab GT37r #'s were on stock headers, so 706whp.

no other kit uses stock headers.

All ST kits use OEM headers, however for the most part they also use tiny turbos.

TN never made any decent #'s so its not even considered. That just leaves PL and you. You kit hasnt made any real #'s yet so that just left the PL kit (@629 and 706)

Thats what I meant there werent any other kits that use stock headers.

True, but PL also claimed 600+ HP on a gt35r kit and people have had trouble braking 500. So I am trying to determine what the best set-up would be in order to make legit 600whp on a ST.

HR's have a different 3 bolt flange though, so that is not an option.

So far we've gotten 525 @ 12.2 psi on stock headers with a DE motor. The limiting factor was the oem fuel rail and I fully expect more power once the fuel system is upgraded.

I’m pretty sure PL they were running the stock exhaust manifolds when they made their 11.0 @ 130 mph pass… I think they were just over 600 whp on that run… they also have a 900 whp dyno with the factory manifolds too.

I think the main issue with OE headers is the strength... if you have good support for whatever you have hanging off of them, I suspect they will last a long time.

With my kit there is no weight on the headers at all. You can see here that the turbo and up pipe are supported by the exhaust and an additinal hanger that comes with the kit:

So, no worries there.

Russ--- we need one of your built motor cars up here to put on the heart breaker... spoke to Bryan about this a while back but I guess things never materialized... we are still wanting to see that happen.

noone has any problem breaking 600 on a PL kit with C16 and enough fuel pump.

if you wanna make a legit 600 on pump gas, you need a bigger turbo. manifold type wont even matter.

Sorry, a bit of a typo there. I ment 500whp on pump with a ST not 600. I undertand that I would need to step up in turbo size for 600.

Wouldn't offering headers sacrifice a lot of the DIY, easy installation that (among many other things) makes your kit desirable? Not like I'm your marketing manager, but it would be lousy for you if someone bought a kit with headers and didn't realize the added hassle. I wouldn't want to see them slagging you on here even though they should have known better.

I chopped up a set of oem headers and was not happy with what I found. Sorry I did not take pic's but long story short I am just going to make a custom set for myself.
