i'm 90% back together. Ya I needed alot of boost to make any power. I made 713DD on pump/meth with 1200cc injectors at like 27psi. But with E85 you are probably 8-10 degrees more timing, so not terrible different. I had much smaller cams. Went with C8s this time with a 3.8L stroker, carrillo, heads, ID2000s the whole nine.

U heading to Zdayz?
My engine didn't like a lot of timing. I think 14 degrees is the most it wanted, I will ask Erin to double check, but I know it was kinda low.

I also forgot I have the old school Crawford cast plenum helping the top end some . Your new motor sounds like a very nice build. Can't wait to see what she makes.

I'd like to go to Zdayz, but if it is at a road course I will be bringing a different car than the Z .

Patience is much required for these type of builds! lol

I have patience, but now it is getting to be a little tough. My 8 year old asked me the other day "what happened to your red car?" In an 8 year old's life, it has been gone a long time... I just keep focussing on the final product.

This entire project started when I tried to buy a ZR1 when they first came out and none of the dealers would sell them for anywhere near list price. I said f@ck it, I'll build the **** out of my G and have something faster. Well, I'm still waiting for my car to be fully complete and I assume that now ZR1's can be had at list price. Hindsight is 20/20.

On the other hand, being involved with this forum has been a tremendous experience, and I have obtained way more knowledge about cars, motors, FI, etc. than I would have if I had not gone through the modification process. So, in the end, building my car in lieu of buying a super-car has had tremendous benefits. Just look at this 350Z community, there are a lot of great people! I have learned so much during this process that I don't think I can put a price on it.

I know what you mean, and how you feel. If I knew this road would have been this long, I would have probably not gone through with it.

This new build all started when my Greddy feed lines were leaking at the turbo, and the motor needed to come out to fix the issue. I figured, if the engine has to come out, I'm going to go all out. What a journey that was .

The journey is fun, but also frustrating and expensive.

Yes, and YES. I have recently gotten into road racing and looking at 996 cup cars makes me think how I could of afforded one, if I didn't go crazy on the Z. O well, live and learn.

ya thats why i wont go to any HPDE. too addictive. My buddies daily E46 M3 went from civil to downright crazy. after getting hooked. With all those track days included he's well beyond my budget with no end in sight

Ya i will be spectating any road course events at Zdayz. lagggg lagggg xxxwhp is not a good combo in the twistys

I'm running the 555rII's. Be interesting to compare how stiff the sidewalls really are to the 555r's

Yes the running cost would probably negate me from being able to afford one. But those couple times a year would rock, LOL.

Very interesting. Yeah, ID 2000s whould easily get you to 900+whp on E85 with your setup.

+1 It's especially great to see a comeback with something different that breaks up the monotony of boring cookie cutter builds that lack any noteworthy custom fab or details.

Regarding the oil cooler... Where are you guys thinking of putting it? I'd go with a 25-row Mocal for a build of that magnitude, but I don't see much space to fit it due to the size of the intercooler and the routing of the piping combined with the stock bumper opening.

Are you considering an aftermarket front bumber with side openings that would allow airflow to an oil cooler possibly mounted on either side of the intercooler?

BTW, I don't recall... Are your billet 6062's journal or ball bearing?

We are not exactly sure how we are going to go about it, because space is limited as you pointed out. Maybe have 2 smaller ones, one on each side, that are linked together. I have thought about having the scavenge pump feed the coolers, then run back into the block.

They are journal. I don't plan to road race this thing and cost had to be cut somewhere .

I know how you guys feel about the long and extensive build projects that take way longer than was planned or expected. I'm in the same boat. I'm approaching the 3 year mark on my build. It originally started out as a relatively simple plan to install a PL 35R kit modified for 5AT fitment on my stock block. But then it evolved into a full build project including a built motor and trans setup with intentions to shatter coachk's 5AT 1/4 mile record. I have since abandoned that endeavor and the build has subsequently gone in a different and even bigger direction. Aside from all the changes during the build, I have encountered many setbacks and challenges along the way too, including FAIL from SGP Racing and CiNcity Designs that has cost me thousands of lost dollars and months of delays.

The limits of my patience and will to see this project completed have definitely been tested. But I think I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with my build. I have renewed optimism and confidence that my build will be well worth the wait for both myself and the VQ community.

I'm glad to see that the OP and others here are persevering with their big build projects. I think that 2011 has the potential to be a very exciting year for the VQ with some big projects finally coming to fruition.

Yeah, two smaller coolers with one on each side might be a more viable option for you. But I think you'd still need an aftermarket front bumper to get sufficient air flow to them.
