I have been gone awhile, but I'm back....
Are you quoting others, or is this from personal experience? The rods are carried over from my original built motor, some time ago. But, I am not worried about the rods letting go one bit. I would push it to 900+ without the eagle rods being a concern for engine failure, due to being over powered.
good luck anyway sweet build
well considering that the filter is after the pumps, changing it would have limited effect on your pumps (other than proper maintenance). Junk would have to flow thru your injectors and back thru your return. Your injectors woulda clogged 1st if it was enough to kill the pumps.
Which stainless filter are you using and how many micron?
were the pumps readily available from Charles? Do you know the part # of the smaller pump that he uses?

No i have not bent my rods, but why go to all that trouble and use cheap rods. dont get me wrong the eagles are great rods, i have some my self but i dont plan on going over 500-600whp. so yes its just my opinion but why push such a vital component to its limit when there are far stronger options that in the total cost of the build dont make much difference.

Now after much time and money, I would much prefer it to stay together
I honestly feel like just because there was one instance of a blown motor with Eagles inside, does not install proof that the rods are weak at those power levels. Especially when the motor was at 38psi. I think I remember that SP blew their bottom end at around the same psi (but while making 1250rwhp), and they were using Carillos. Time will tell and I could end up eating my words, but more people need to step up to the plate, with Eagles, to find out.
SP blew their bottom end becuase their oil pump came apart. rods where fine. noone has broken a set of carrillos on the VQ to my knowledge.
Risking a motor of a high horsepower build to save 500$ on a set of rods is insane. Not implying you are going to have problem as every motor is different, etc. I reused my eagle rods the 1st time around as well.
Granted my experience is just an N of 1, I just put it out there and let everyone else decide what to do

any more tuning done? still curious as to why the car took less timing than on c16. I looked over the pics again and the charge pipe routing is soooo clean compared to mine. I had to use a oil relocation kit cuz pulling the filter woulda been stupid with 3 charge pipes in that area.
i appreciate it even more after freshly building mine!

My engine didn't like a lot of timing. I think 14 degrees is the most it wanted, I will ask Erin to double check, but I know it was kinda low.
I also forgot I have the old school Crawford cast plenum helping the top end some
. Your new motor sounds like a very nice build. Can't wait to see what she makes.
I'd like to go to Zdayz, but if it is at a road course I will be bringing a different car than the Z
.

^ the timing does seem retarded for E85 - maybe the mixture wasn't spot on?
Good luck with your builds Rich, Terry and Eric for 2011. Looking forward to some spectacular wins!

No more info on the tuning. I have been busy lately, but I think might do some this weekend. The E85 is more then likely closer to E70 since it is winter.
I started this project a long time ago.

amazing car. I love the clean look.
As someone asked more pics and info on those sexy rims please.
also, what's the info on the ceramic coating? i might do that when i have my engine out this time. What was their turn around cause i'll need them back pretty fast.
Also, are those injectors seriously just 420$ for a set of them? that's retarded cheap! Did you get the "import" ones? Also, what is your a/f at idle and what rpm are you idling at? I want to be able to idle as close to stoich as possible so i don't gas myself out at stop lights. I'm doing good on the hks 1000's but i'm going to run out of injector fast since we are doing e85 also.

I drive by Carma almost every day on the way to school and have been drooling over your car sitting in the parking lot the last few days. If you ever get tired of that Nismo lip, I have a chrome silver bumper in good shape I'd trade you, haha. Amazing build, hopefully I'll see it around town sometime.

Drove the car some more before the rain came through. Damn, the things seriously hauls *** like nothing I have ever felt. It was dead hooking in 3rd last night with the nitto DRs and you could feel the front end lift up when the turbos hit. Last night it didnt go any higher then 22psi, we might turn it up to 24ish and see if the injectors duty cycle is in enough safe range.
I checked the timing last night and the max is set to 16.5. He said it didnt really respond to any more then that and there wasnt a need to go higher. For the power it is making at low 20ish psi, I have to agree with him.
If the rain clears out tomorrow, then I am having a guy take pictures of the car. I will post them up and a video if it happens.

The injector link I posted is the exact ones that I have. 6 of them were $360. I idle around 1100rpm and AF is about 16ish maybe. It takes off from redlights with ease.

The car was shot by Chad Lunn from www.chadlunnphotography.com. He took LOTS of pictures and they will put up slowly once he is done checking them over. Check back for more pictures.
