Freshly Built long block and New clutch???
Ok guys, been a while since I have been posting. I just finished my fully built long block that I've been building, and I finally swapped it in my car this past weekend. Car started wonderfully and is just running real fat right now.
The question I really have though is about the clutch. My 6-puck was shot when we pulled it out, and I mean SHOT... I put it back in so I could start to break in the motor, but I need to make a change before hand and quick. My question is A) how many of you guys break in a new clutch with a new motor, and B) what have high hp guys had experience with in terms of the twin discs v.s the tripples.
My power goals are about 700whp with daily driving around 500-550whp. I was looking at tripple carbonetics, but am thinking a twin carbonetics may be more than sufficient.
I've searched alot of old threads, and unfortunately it keeps coming up that alot of guys that did the clutch and motor at the same time have had some sort of massive failure shortly down the road. Hoping a new thread will help consolidate this information and will bring new commers to the table with their experiences with new motors and clutches as well as their twin and tripple disc experience at the same time.
Thanks in advance guys!

I run a Carbonetics triple to 688ft/lbs of TQ.
Im straight MEAN, to my motor, and especially my transmission, and the clutch hasnt really skipped a beat. It almost grabs too well once heated up, but you can deal with it. Its been the most reliable aspect of both of my builds, its been in 2 tranny's and 2 motor setups.
Its a beotch in traffic when warm though, it will chatter as it disengages and tire your leg quick, but I dont care cuz I dont daily the car anymore.

Thanks guys... I have been leaning in the triple carbonetics direction as I think thats where I want to be streetability wise, but have been all over the place between twins that alot of guys are running...
Bert, how bad is the engagement compared to on/off setups, if you have a comparison of course?

Ive owned all types of clutches, the harshest I had was a 4 puck, unsprung in another setup that thing was like an on/off switch. The carbonetics isnt bad in that regard at all, my GF drives my Z with no issues and doesnt sweat the clutch.

Forgot to add, I have driven 3 maybe 4 other Triple setups, and never have I had one feel the same, they are always different.
I run a SS clutch line and mine has been the friendliest Ive driven. I also broke it in for only like 100 miles before I began raping it, and change the fluid regularly.

I run the triple disk carbonetics as well. Super overkill for my setup but I got a great deal on it.
My wife drives the car and she doesnt have problems with the clutch.
compared to some OS Giken's I have driven the slip is great. Almost drives like a heavy OEM clutch in my car.

I think they retail just over 3000 new. No idea what vendors on here sell them for and what not. there is a used one in the marketplace right now.
I got mine off a local guy who parted his car out. Clutch had just been broken in and hadnt really even been driven on yet.
