We were honored to have Momentum’s built motor 350Z in this week for tuning. Bryan drove the Z down on a base map and was ready to get it dialed in and turned up. After an initial inspection we strapped it down on the dyno, aka “The Sandbagger”. This was not the first time we had seen a Momentum GT35R kit on the dyno, but this was the first one with a built motor and Haltech. Other mods include Momentum headers, Cosworth plenum, ported heads and BC 264 cams.
Once drivability was cleaned up we jumped into power tuning. The initial results were impressive and the kit was responding nicely, but we ran out of time on Friday after upgrading wastegate springs. On Saturday we were able to set the boost to 15psi and tune to 516whp - quite impressive for 93octane pump gas (no meth), and the curve was very nice as well. This is the most power we have seen from a production single turbo kit on 93octane fuel. For higher boost levels (16+psi), I recommended a stiffer wastegate spring and larger turbo / turbine housing.
For anyone not familiar, our dyno reads very low. Momentum will have the Z on a Dynojet in the next few days and I expect to see 550-600whp on this same tune/power level. I will make sure this chart gets posted as well when it happens.
Final impression after driving on the street was positive. The kit performs very well – nice smooth power delivery down low and continues to pull to redline (7000rpm).

Sorry for the question, but in Europe everyone talking about power on crankshaft and here I always read whp. So, your engine is about 620hp, if i calculate with the power loss of the drivetrain?

Great work Hal
