I have this setup on my car but need new exhaust. I was wondering what size piping is necessary. I purchased the car used and it has a crappy custom 3" exhaust system with horrible welds and bends. Can I put an aftermarket 2.5" system and be okay with that?
What are the power restrictions for a 2.5" exhaust?

I'm in the same boat, but I have been being told and I am going with 3'' exhaust. I'm not really sure of the restrictions, but I do know if your going to be changing the exhaust and you are TT go 3''. I'm going with motordyne turbo tdx or the greddy turbo tic. For me I'm looking for the deep growl. Look at this way you are forcing more air into the motor and with all that forced air it need to escape the most easiest way. So with the 2.5" and all the air your forcing in, the smaller the diameter the harder it is to escape. I don't know a hole lot I'm in the learning process with the whole turbo thing. I do know the basics. There are a lot of guys on here that know there s**t. hopefully thay can give you a better look at it.

There are several 600whp cars with 2.5" exhausts on here. Unless you are going for broke with a build, cams, etc and you want as much power possible, then you dont need the 3"
Not to mention they are loud as fawk. Im tolerant as hell to the neuisances of highly mod'd cars, but even I get upset sometimes when cruising in my car. I cant hear the motherfawking radio....

Side question, do you know how much power a stock VLSD is good to handle?
I have the APS TD 3", if you dont think it drones you dont know the definition of drone!
Its a lose/lose
Windows down, the wind noise at highway speeds makes your left ear go numb and deaf. Windows up and the SLIGHTEST throttle to maintain speed and its like brain torture the drone is nuts.
I literally need to upgrade my speakers so I can hear music again, years of exhausts and a $hitty OEM system have left me with 2 blown rears and 1 dying front lol
OEM pumpkin is good to go for a ton of power.
