Default HR FI plenum?

anyone producing a plenum for the HR yet?i see S n R made one for gamermodz and said they were making one for production but it doesnt seem they followed through with that. GTM was making a kit for the VR38 manifold to fit on but i dont see anything followed by that either. Is there any other alternative other than having one custom made at this point in time yet?

I know the OEM looks really ugly, but to date it has proven that it can handle high boost and make power all the way to 700whp+ and 8000rpm.

cosmetic more so than anything but when it gets built itl be right around its limitations there ^ figured might as well look into it now rather than scrambeling later down the road

Has there ever been any 3rd party documented gains with FI switching to any Kinetix plenum for any Z/G car (DE, HR, VHR)? Just asking... I thought you were going to test the SSV velocity plenum on your FI setup?

We tested it NA and made gains, cant remember the exact numbers and as far as FI i did but not on the dyno (it was occupied the entire day) i installed my OE plenum for testing and corrected the AFR, my boost went UP from ~8.5psi on my lowest setting to 9.9psi. This was literally 30minutes later, i dont have any #s as proof (which i may try this again) but the car felt terrible, the slowest it has been since boosted.

Then i installed a spacer (Z1 angled spacer) it helped alot, It was a drastic improvement in power, and the boost dropped slightly on that setting, to around 9.5psi and alot of the power was back.

I reinstalled the Kinetix, corrected the AFRs and it pulled the hardest and my boost dropped back down to 8.5psi where it was at first. Its odd that the car felt better with the Kinetix and was reading lower boost.

But based on the butt dyno the Kinetix makes more power than both the OE plenum or the spacer.

As far as gains with the VQ37 Kinetix with FI, i don't think one has been installed on a boosted VQ37 yet.

But if you doubt gains with the Kinetix on a FI DE you should look at not only my # per the PSI and the Z1 Momentum car with a Kinetix. It is the only Momentum ST car to make as much (slightly more) TQ than HP. The only difference in that car being the Kinetix.

Sorry for the somewhat threadjack since im referring to a DE but Raj asked.

^ really wish there was documented evidence. It's hard to believe there is not even a single 3rd party before/after dyno for FI. Too bad Kinetix supports and warranties their plenum to 30 psi, but has not published any proof that the product works. It's relevant to this thread because I don't think even the HR folks should be looking at a solution which has no documented gains other than what is stated in marketing literature...

I just talked with John@Z1, unless something major comes up my car will be going on the dyno this weekend for a repeat of the testing i spoke of. Back to back between OE plenum vs OE + Z1 Spacer vs Kinetix. I will make a thread with results. Its time find out for sure if this plenum works and if so have some proof.

The only thing im not sure what to do about is the boost changing with each plenum, i guess i could do both, leave it on the same setting for all 3 and also try to adjust all 3 to the same PSI. Any input?

you have the new kinetix right??

I have it on my car but it was already on when I did my tune for FI. However my car is seeing better numbers on average then same setup on other cars with just a spacer.

comparing dyno sheets though from same dyno my car has more uptop and power doesnt fall off at all up top. I think its due to the long tube design. I did 445hp 398tq or something like that an a DJ. I dont have my dyno sheet. I am getting a touchup sometime in the next couple weeks so I will get an updated dyno chart then (shop has since gotten a DD so I will see wha tthe number difference is as well.)

Well i got on the dyno saturday, turned down the boost and pulled a little timing (to be safe for testing) did 3 pulls, and was about to swap to the OE Plenum and something came up. So i wasn't able to test this weekend

BUT i found someone local that just ordered a Cosworth, so i am going to wait for him to get it and we will test Cosworth vs Kinetix vs OE vs OE +Z1 Spacer should be an epic day. Pending when he receives his plenum we make be testing with higher HP #s on a built block
