Turbo 350Z Rear Tire Suggestions
rwhp is not the biggest concern, IMO, it's the slope of the torque curve. For example, it's easy to keep a supercharged car planted with grip with a "small" 275 tire even at 400rwhp since it's relatively lower torque and the torque curve is smooth. I have to dick around with the gain in my boost controller on my TTZ to smooth it out via the wastegate. I also have a low/high boost button which is mounted on the steering wheel.
2. another reason why i like SC over turbos, honestly...
3. on the camber topic: -2 to -2.5 in front and -1 in back for 4yrs now on a once daily driven Z. it made for awesome tire longevity on $450 rear tires and it reduced wheel hop big time. also, the camber balanced out the car in the twisties, with 255's up front and 305's in back.
4. i can spin most of first with 245wtq and a 3.9fd setup on PS2's. so maybe that's not a great tire for FI

5. when i do go FI, i'll probably pick up a pair of DR's

I ran around 500whp on a pair of 275 SP2's. I would brake boost at 60mph on 3rd and spin them out until they heat up and start to stick then BOOM!!! the modified ZO6 is way behind me
Had a Vortech 3.12 377/316. That one was ran on oem reo40's with the stock alignment
now I have a turbonetics with pistons/rods 6-7lbs or something i honestly didnt pay attn, its still in progress indefinitely . 275 falken fk452's stock alignment once again.
and for the kicker

some old guys track rat turned into my DD, when she is on the track she gets the star spec's all around. Out back the camber is like 1.6 or 1.8. when she is on the street for the most part a set of 195 star specs up front. The rear is either are tires that my friend at americas put aside or what ever I can get from the dead bin. The shittier the better, but most importantly being free is the key.
Now those tires have some traction at least in holding G's Does anyon think we can throw those on something with more power and hold traction. Do they even make a size that works for Z's.

I love my R888's. I run the 295 19s daily on the back. I have over 25k miles on them. 70 miles per day of commuting, ~50 of that at highway speed. Camber is -1.1 or so. I dont drive like an *** most of the time, but when I need to they hook very well and give great control. Id advise against cheep tires because on the edge of control the better quality tire will far out perform. When you want to slide the back aound comming out of a corner a more road race type tire wil be much easier to handle. I'll be getting another set of R888s in the fall.
read thru this thread and goin off the tire and camber subject, i'm currently running 245/40/18, 265/35/19 with re-11's and i'd like to stay with my current setup after I install my TT kit. Would running -1.8r and -1.0f be a good all around setup for the staggered sizes?
BTW, I have LE37T +22 offset
Do the RE11's come in 295's
I run nitto Nt555rII and grip in 1st. Making 433/355 on a vortech. I ran nt555rs before this but didnt like the feeling of the soft sidewall you get with a DR. The II are hard sidewall and are much nicer. You get the best of both worlds.
Too big, IMO. I ran the 285 R888 on a 9" wheel, and it had a little bulge and was squirmy under load.
285 on 9.5 is fine, 295 on 9.5 isn't, IMO.
It absolutely does.
I had the same experience with the BFG DR. I like the R888 better, even if it's not a DR tire.

I was just saying that he could do it, as in it will fit on and people have done it on here before. Whether he should or not, is a different story. It is definitely pushing the boundaries of rim width to tire width. I personally am running a 275 on a 9.5" wheel right now, and probably wouldn't go bigger.
Im running a 295/35/19 on a 9.5" wheel, its not ideal as others have stated but it works for now.
