Default 350Z OE Fuel Pump Assembly and Pump

Hey guys/gals,

While doing some test fitting of the DW301 pump in the OE 350Z assembly, I went ahead and did some flow testing so we could have some stock vs. DW comparisons.

The OE fuel pump @ 13.5 volts flows in the assembly -

40psi - ~150LPH
50psi - ~135LPH
51psi - ~130LPH

The OE assembly has a built in fuel pressure regulator that starts to open around 50psi and fully opens between 51-52psi.

The DW301 pump @ 13.5 volts flows in the assembly -

40psi - ~305LPH
50psi - ~290LPH
51psi - ~270LPH

Outside of the assembly, the pumps flowed 6% more vs. flowing through the assembly. The OE 350Z pump flowed ~100LPH @ 80psi.

I figured since I had to opportunity to do these flow tests, might as well post the results, too.

-Chris

Why would the application determine how much a pump will flow? The rest of the fuel system will be the limitation, and most people who will use it will upgrade to RFS anyway.

because the housing inside the tank will affect flow diff for each application. like the results Chris posted from the start, outside the housing the stock pump flowed about 6% more. The chart is probably just showing the flow of the pump itself with no housings or anything to restrict flow.

Any idea why the sudden drop between 50 and 51 psi? I mean from 40 to 50 it only dropped 15 LPH, but from 50 to 51 it dropped another 20 LPH? Seems like bad data.

The internal fuel pressure regulator starts opening @ 50psi and begins flowing fuel back into the tank. It is fully open between 51-52psi. The OE assembly will not allow pressure to increase above that, and flow cliff dives when the pump is attempted to be pushed above that.
