1000whp for only $15k
There's a lot of folks that post over there that are on here too. You're entitled to your opinion, but I doubt you know enough of us to make a generalization like that.
some places the parts for the 6.0 truck block can be had significantly cheaper. trans, 6.0, and harness can usually be had for about 500-600 out of a 2wd truck. granted it will be automatic but i know that beat what prob aroudn 3-3500 for a ls2? thats what they where going for last time i looked. its why the iron block is a popular swap in alot of platforms as well its cheap as hell.

the only downside to the iron block is weight but its a bit stronger then the ls2 block wise. but hell can buy a 6.0 with a callies forged internal kit for what a ls2 costs =P could mayby bump up the power a little and add weight to the rear to make up for the extra up front though. if i was still into third gen camaros thats def what i would be rocking right now lol
Search Youtube for "Parish Silverado" and check out the 10 second 4x4 turbo silverado runing mid 10s in the 1/4. Pretty cool to see him dusting all the other vehicles. I think it is a 6.0 liter built block.
I suppose if you got great deals on used parts, and did all labor yourself it if possible.
But there are only a few kits that can even support 1000whp.
I did 650rwhp on pump.....right turbo kit, right cams, right ECU, right fuel, right motor parts, right tune, right build.....but it cost more than $15k

If anyone knows what these things cost...its you for sure lol....
Oh and something that I'm sure was overlooked by the guy that wanted to do this......for 1000whp you are going to have to go to a multi-disk clutch.....has he bothered to look at the costs of that one part (or I guess technically several parts) alone???

I have a custom Mcleod ceramic unsprung twin disc. It would set a normal customer back about 1500 for the clutch..and is good to over 1000hp. There is no aspect of the LS swap(other than initial build) that is even close to as expensive as a VQ making similiar numbers. In the end you might end up spending around the same but are left with a setup thats less common, more reliable, and pretty much better in every way. I daily drive the **** out of my car and the only thing I wish I did differently was the fuel pump setup.(gets annoying trying to listen to the radio) The car is very tame out of boost and even gets ridiculous gas mileage.
I the LS has a much larger diameter clutch which helps hold the power for sure.
With the little clutch on the VQ you are looking at like $2500 for the cheapest multi-disk (that has held power).
I have pretty much taxed what a single disk could hold on mine, and still be driveable.

Yeah and then you still haven't even touched the tires, or the axels. When you do tires, you will likely do wheels, and then you will want to add in brakes... then gauges, and actual tune cost... And those things (if you buy smart) will cost you at least 5 grand, tons of people pay waaay more than that.
The ls swap though cheaper after all is said and done, won't be cheap to do initially. But I'm not going to start another debate about it. Ls motors are badass but I don't want one in my car. I'd rather swap a 2j or something... I'd actually like to see a vg30det swap, THAT (imo) would be a cheap swap with plenty of power to be made.
