Vortech Install... Final HP numbers!
only for the g sedan, the g coupe's ECU is already on the market.
The G sedan has a variable capacity muffler. Single inlet, dual outlet. The first outlet is always open, the second outlet is valved to open at approximately 3800 rpm. This produces max torque down low with freeer flowing for high hp up top.
They don't know what the final numbers will be. The automatic sedan saw >10 hp IIRC. However, it appears the 6mt sedan is tuned a little more aggressively and they lost power on the first try.
I don't know how it will affect performance, but those answers should be available within a week or so. I am not at the purchasing stage so I haven't got all the facts yet. Still researching my goals for the car.

I replaced the center section of the exhaust (huge resonator/cat combo unit that weighed about 50-60 pounds) with the coupe center section ( about 15 pounds) and that made a huge difference in sound and power.

My Vortech install is complete. I'm really happy with the job the shop (cpracing.com) has done and the time they have put into tuning the car after the install. I'll post the Dyno sheet later, but here are the numbers:
N/A: 264 HP at Crank (217 rwhp)
w/Vortech: 400 HP at Crank (328 rwhp)
After installing the kit, the A/F ratio was too low (about 9.0), but one of the chips in the kit is apparently computer programmable, so the tuner was able to set the A/F ratio across the RPM range to the 11/12 range.
Since I live about 3 hours away from the installer, I decided to have them go ahead keep the car tomorrow and over the weekend to do some around town driving to make sure that everything is good and that the car is going to be reliable. So, it's going to be Tuesday before I can go get the car. I can't wait!!
BTW, from what they tell me, the car isn't overly loud at idle, but the BOV is pretty darn loud when shifting at high RPMs.

I'll ask about the discs. Earlier I had posted that the shop had used a laptop to do tuning. Turns out they were tuning the piggyback ECU chip and not the FMU itself. But the bottom line is that fine-grained tuning is possible.
This morning I [finally!!] picked up the car and had the chance to drive it around. My first two reactions were: (1) it's not as loud as I thought it would be--it's audible but not obnoxious by any stretch of the imagination; (2) it is faster than I expected. Redline comes up shockingly fast in first gear. In fact, the first time I really gunned it I had bounced off of the rev limiter before I knew what happened. Gotta be careful

BOV is audible as a hiss--especially if you rev the car up and coast to slow down. If you are trying to drive "quietly" you can shift early and almost not hear the BOV at all.
If you're getting on the gas, you can hear the BOV--but who cares in those cases, really. The car doesn't seem any louder at WOT than it did with my Injen CAI, to be honest.

Thanx sound like it is relatively stealthy at low throttle.
Just an FYI, I read on another forum that the SQ trim should not be cold started below 32F. Since the SQ gear tolerances are so tight lockup at a very cold start is possible. I don't know how 100% true this is, but there was a significant Vortech Forum thread on the subject via the Superchargers _online site. You may want them to clarify for you. It doesn't concern me in Nor Cal, but it could be a concern in NC.

The supposed issue was just at cold start. once running, the oil would definately quickley warm the gear case. tHe thread was fro guy whos 4x4 (up north somewere) with and SQ trim locked up on him . Vortech replaced his unit free of charge, but warned that they would not replace it second time.
Here's a short shot of video footage from outside the car. It sounds much louder outside the car than it does inside the car, so I'll need to take some more video footage to show that.
