I know Stillen did a 7th injector on their original kit.

I've always wondered why we dont see more of that instead to trying to make compromises with large injectors.

A set of 600/800s followed by a pair of staged 1200s in the intake for example.

Kinda like JPS setup on their drag supra.




Would be no different than a wet nitrous without the nitrous.

I supposed the biggest holdback would be an EMS that could control the extra injectors. My ems can control i think 16 injectors, so that's not an issue. Probably doable on a Haltech as well.

I guess thats a good point as well. We could dial in the 1200s pretty good and thats alot of fuel for anyone not on E85. I guess since E85 hasnt really caught on with the VQs as it has with the Evo/Supra crowds, our current fuel options are relatively adequate.

 

Because it's the wrong way of doing it. It is difficult/impossible to accurately control dispersion that way. With the introduction of mainstream 2000+cc injectors that can idle, it just isn't needed. If you are maxing out 1000s/2000s, then I would suggest going to a dual injector setup (2 x 6) instead of injectors in charge pipes etc.

ID2000s that I have idle ok. I just saw that pic and it seemed very simple and it works on nitrous/ But I gues big nitrous builds are also direct port as well.

 

+1 to Hal. Our dry intake manifolds really aren't designed for it.

 

i thought charles made note of the difficulty of dual injector setups on our cars. I can't remember where i read it but someone was wanting to do it and he explored the idea and found it more trouble than it's worth.

I would love oem injectors for vac map and huge ones for boost but oh well.

 

you'd just have to design a dual plenum so you could run the fuel rails down the middle of the ports. Just like Injected did with their ITB/FI car.

i think that's why charles stayed away from it. he built that 1 custom intake already.

Yea but now you have fuel vapor + oxygen in the whole plenum 1-2 feet of pipe vs 2 inches of runner. Just as safe??

 

if the fuel puddles in the intake you can get a backfire. Thats what causes nitrous backfires. Although, that is caused by low rpm bogging.

Assuming those injectors only came on when there is good flow ( >3000 rpms, and boost), you shouldnt have to worry about backfire.

^ Also dispersion problems cause backfires and problems on larger shots, not just at low rpm. This is why you see people moving to direct port when wanting larger size shots. The same would apply for fuel...

Again, with the caliber and size injectors on the market today, this old style of adding fuel doesn't have much place for discussion here, just like carburated talk.

 

Like blackbird said too... who the fack needs the extra fuel?

And our plenums don't encourage that kind of injection.

BTW im going to throw this out there, direct injection is bad. (hehehehehe)

 

Before E85 I wanted to do a dual fuel setup....

main set ran off pump, and supplemental ran C16......Local guy with a TT C6 Z06 had a similar setup that was really nice.

WTF Rich...thats so old school bro...I was using that setup back in the early 90s with reflash.

 

^On a 13B Nice! A lot of rotary guys running in import drag did the same thing back then.

 

thats a 7.0sec supra they used that injector setup on, on a relatively new build.

it was more of a inquisitive question, not so much suggesting to use it.

We dont even have mainstream pump solution to fully utilize the big injectors on the market yet.
