Default Stillen Supercharger and Resonated Test Pipes?

I just purchased a Stage 3 Supercharger for my 2003 Nissan 350z and I was wandering why exactly you cant use test pipes? My cats are shot and I have Kinetix resonated test pipes on it. I have gotten mixed responses from different threads which weren't really on the topic. I was just wandering is it in the tunning or what and is there anyway around using stock cats. Being that stock cats are very expensive. Stillen says using high flow cats will not work as it will blow the cats out. They seem to avoid this question. Anyways hope to hear some good responses. Thanks

you can use test pipes, you just cant use the prepackaged tune from stillen. if you can retune the car, there is no reason you cant use them

I believe for a supercharger it is recommended as > TP > oem cats > aftermarket hfcs.....
Also if ur cats are shot now u can bet that its gunna be just as raspy if not more with test pipes. Motordyne art pipes could be an option but i would search around to see if anyone has anything to say about how they held up.

Not using proper grammar and spelling just makes you look like you are lazy. With spell check there is no reason to have misspelled words. As for grammar well that's just on you and how much you learned in English class. Most on here are fairly educated and will call you out on it. This isn't a Honda forum. Nobody is perfect but you at least have to make an effort.

Back on topic ladies... lol

I have wondered the same thing. Ive read in quite a few stillen threads that the root style s/c loves backpressure and performs better that way hince why they say run cats. the more free flow parts you put on the less hp you will gain... so ive read.

I don't know much about the roots but I do know the centrifugals like some backpressure...exactly how much is hard to quantify...

My vortech did have more hp/trq with a motordyne xyz cat vs without a cat...

I've been looking for this same information as I'm purchasing the LTH & true dual exhaust, but Stillen states you will looks PSI running a more free flowing exhaust system, even with an upgrading intake filter, etc etc.

Similar supercharger on a Cobra Mustang loves more free flowing exhaust/intake track.

There was a video of a Stillen Stage 2 run a stock Z and Dyno 305HP but with aftermarket shorty headers and Agency exhaust, put down 289HP TUNED! I'll have to look for the video, but I'm thinking of going another route if this is the case.

its probably due to the fact that the charger stillen chose is WAY undersized for a 3.5L engine. Its meant for like a 2L.

well if your cats are shot.. and you need something, then buy HFcs as they are cheaper than oem cats.. and are not test pipes w zero backpressure.
You apparently have to buy something... so buy the item closest to what you need, and thats HFCs.
399, done. They dont flow THAT much more than OEM cats.. youll be fine. Have your tune checked and be on your way.

Also, its not just a "questions and answers bin" for you.. yahoo answers is good for that, or try wikepedia haha.

Its a forum, ie, a big room full of regulars.. so yes, were gna make fun off ppl as well when the opportunity arises.. its part of the game. Youll be fine, i assume youre an adult.
