exhaust leak?
I was just wondering if its normal for the inside of a FI car to smell like exhaust fumes or is it more likely i have an exhaust leak. I've tightened all my bolts and clamps but it didnt help. My car has no cat by the way. If i roll up the windows and recirculate the air, the smell disappears. Thanks for input.
Do you still have cats? If its an exhaust leak you should hear a tapping sound when cold that may go away or diminish as the car heats up.
What F/I setup do you have? Some have been known to crack at the manifolds.

every FI car I have ever owned with straight through exhaust (no cats) has smelled the same (exhaust fumes). Make sure you recirculate air in the cabin when driving with the windows up. Otherwise, get used to it.
ya, how is your catch can setup? open breather type catch cans that vent into the engine bay will allow engine fumes to be drawn into the vent system. Doesn't have to be exhaust leaking to cause this.
I have the turbonetics setup, which I installed myself so Im expecting some minor mistakes. Yes, I do have open breather as well as no cat, so I'll guess that its a combination of everything you guys mentioned! Me = No cat, self install (possible leak), "worst on the market FI kit", and open breather system. I guess I'll just live with it for now. Thanks guys.
