Default Quick question on pulling the engine

I've now pulled the motor twice. Once from the top straight out and the other from the bottom dropping the sub-frame and all. Looking to see what is more common and what people find easier. I have seen a mix in other threads, but trying to bring it to one common spot.

Front or bottom is most common for twin turbo because you can't come out the top with the turbos installed. Dropping the engine w/subframe attached seems by far the best way if u have access to a lift. Otherwise out the top for N/A if u have an engine 'crane' or whatever they call it is pretty straight forward as well.

I did the subframe with turbos last winter and was thinking about doing it through the top again like the first time. I'm honestly just undecided.

If you have access to a lift, out the bottom is by far the easiest, other wise i just pulled mine out through the front in my garage with a crain/hoist. and that only took me about 4 or 5 hours of slow and steady work...

i wish i coulda dropped the car onto the motor. That way I coulda had everything bolted to the motor.

i've pulled it out the front every time though.

If you have a lift, then out the bottom is easiest.

We did mine out the bottom on a lift. But i would think out the front wouldn't be too bad either. I preffer the bottom though.

With the Greddy kit I just pulled the motor right out the front with everything still attached. We had to unbolt the steering shaft from the steering rack to make room for the drivers side down pipe though.

I had to do that too going out the top, and pretty sure I did it going out the bottom too. First time I forgot to mark the spline and had to re-align the rack

I've done it a few times now. Drop everything (engine and trans) down just enough to clear the cross member bolts, then pull it out through the front.

Agree 100%. I'll admit the first time was a nightmare, probably because I was so cautious, but now it's really not a big deal at all.

I had my turbos installed and piping and put the motor back in over the top.
I scratched the engine bay a bit but definitely do able

I had my motor pulled 3x twice out the front and the last one I did over the top with the turbos.

I would rather do it from the bottom if I could

Seems like alot of guys still go out the bottom... I've done both, but was curious what most prefer. I Like the idea of not having to remove everything in the car to go out the bottom, especially since the primary pull is for changing oil pump, sprockets, and manifold. The turbo upgrade is just going to be a bonus Thanks for the input everyone!

3rd option which is the easiest: straight out the front. Don't even need to break apart the a/c lines. I just moved the condenser off to the side and left the a/c sealed.
