Default Procharger - 1st oil change?

I just did the first oil change on my Procharger. The oil used is the oil that came with the kit from ATI. I had 600 miles on the oil. As required by ATI I did the first change. The oil was thin as vodka and had a very grey (metal particle saturated) look to it. The magnetic drain plug was completly grey with fine, dust sized metal particles. Is this normal on a first oil change?

The first oil change is a break-in period. During a break-in, fine particles from the initial wear may be in the oil. This is why they tell you to change it after the first 500 miles when you start using it.

Most appreciated. Thought it was a little strange. Hope the next change looks better than this first one.

I did the second one at about 1000 miles (on the Procharger) and while the oil still had that silvery color, there were no metal flecks whatsoever.

It seemed to me that taking off the driver side wheel and front inner fender shield was the easiest access to the drain plug on the head unit. I already had the Z on jack stands to change the engine oil so taking off the wheel was simple at that point. I still can’t believe the "vodka like" consistency of the SC oil they give you from ATI. It’s like -20 SAE or something.

They sell a ten dollar tool to remove the oil next time
might as well bite the bullet and order one. Time is money!

I have the G coupe, and to take the drain plug out is next to impossible with the configuration of the install. ATI supplied a syringe and tubing. You trim down the tip of the tube to a tapered spear point, then take a little part of the point off so it does not bend back on itself (the tubing is soft and very flexible), and then jiggle the little devil all the way down to the bottom of the unit. Save the old oil bottle and as you withdraw the used oil, squirt it into the old bottle as a cross check that you get all of the oil out.
It works quite effectively.

But what about the little metal flecks? Can you suck them out with this device? Also, you can't clean them off of the magnetic plug with this device either.

Yes Max, time is money but the first one took me like 45 mins. and the second was only about 25 (learning curve).
