Launching your boosted car?
I never broke an axle myself (still stock, knock on wood) but I have seen so much carnage with everything from stock to DSS PRO with people running DR's I knew right away not to F around without bias ply's :P. Before bias ply's I ran street tires and had such bad wheel hop I never pushed it too hard. Haven't had a single issue with wheel hop or 'dead hook' syndrome since.

However, there are also radial drag tires that have been designed solely for use on the strip. These are used in the ‘legal’ classes of races, such as Stock, Super Stock, and Comp Eliminator, and are used most often in cars equipped with automatic transmissions. Because drag radials dead-hook off the line and are constructed more stiffly than bias-ply tires, they are very unforgiving in regards to regaining traction. Consequently, they also often require much more work to the chassis in order to get the most out of them. So, while radials have several distinct advantages over bias-ply drag tires, they certainly won’t solve all of your on-track traction issues.
alot of ppl run 15's and such but honestly i never had a problem with my 17" mickey thompson ET streets (3743) mounted on flix ftd wheels..they ran straight with no slippin around half track because they dont have a huge sidewall and they stuck just fine at my power level and i was on stock axles pullin 1.6 60ft's all day.
Even M/T themselves recommend against DR's on manuals.

Broke my stock axles first time out on DR's. Launched at about 5k with about ~400hp. Be easy on that launch. Practice pedaling it at first till u get a good feel for ways going on. IMO!
Go out and have some fun.

Someone slap me into the original intent of my build - GOING FAST in a straight line. I fell into the brake upgrade trap and did all four corners with the Akebono kit. At the end of the day, I just didn't need them and it really had nothing to do with my original goals. Thank goodness I saved the calipers, old brakes are going back on the rear. I already have a set of very light 16" wheels that fit over the stock brakes just fine. I will swap the rear brakes back out and the run the 26x10.5x16 MT ET Streets as suggested by the drag racing patrons of this website. Will it look dope? Not as dope as the big red calipers that are currently on the back but i will be able to run good tires that meet my goals and get me down the 1320 while lowering the risk of axle carnage

Before upgrading, I made a number of passes on the stock LSD dif. I later upgraded the dif as one of many steps to battle wheelspin on the street. Also, I piloted an automatic 350Z (which doesn't receive the shock of a 6spd) into the 8's many times on a stock dif. So, from a durability standpoint they are rather tough - but an aftermarket dif will do a better job of planting power.

Phil, you just need to take a trip to West Texas in April and you'll never want to 1/4 the car again...just can't beat the feeling of 59 miles over 130mph sustained
and then turn around North and do it again an hour later

Did it all day long then drove 120 miles home. Original axles with almost a hundred 1/4 passes and 60k miles.

Learned something though: although there was spin it was controlled spin. Ended up being my best run of the day.

Yea there was some spin because I didn't do a burnout on that run. Stupid track officials making you roll 20 feet past a barely damp water box then sit for over a minute before starting the burnout. I was like F it not even trying.
