Default Single turbo 08z questions

I might have some noob questions haha.
Me and my buddy are starting a single custom turbo for my 08.
1) How much can my stock motor take before I have to do the internals? Im not planning on giving it alot of boost (just a lil umpf for fun)
2) best boost controller for the money.
If I had the money to just go out and buy a kit i would but i dont so custom it is.
Thanks guys much appreciated

The HR can handle 500+ I would keep it at 8psi so 450-500 that should be plenty. What are you using for tuning? I would just keep it wastegate pressure 8psi no BC.

Well before you run out and land flat on your face. I would suggest reading up on a couple of the single turbo builds.

Just google the following in any order:

Jtran single turbo HR VHR S&R performance first 370z top mount

That's your answer! Please report back with your findings/lessons learned dung your build!

Good luck!

500 is pushing it imho...The people running that power level on a stock block is pushing it and it's only a matter of time till the engine gives out.

Building your own turbo kit but cant figure out what boost controller to use seems a little simple compared to what your biting off with the custom turbo kit.

What is your budget or how much do you think you'll spend on the single turbo setup, not including fuel system or tuning?

I ran my stock block at 8.5psi on the Greddy 20G kit with no problems

I also used the HKS EVC VI electronic boost controller but already sold it for $450

AEM Tru Boost is a cheap way to go for boost controller/boost gauge combo for under $300.

Tap your IM and run a hose to the lower port of your w/g. You will get the exact boost pressure as the spring is rated for, and it will not fall off at the top. This is how I have it on my car, and spring holds solid all the way. No need for a BC.
