Default STS rear-mount turbo?

I've had my 2004 350Z for a while now. I've always wanted to turbo it but I don't want to risk my daily driver if I don't do everything right. Also, it seems like I'll be putting over 10k into it and I can't imagine spending that much money. I'm not looking for any huge gains. Ever since I got my Z, my goal has been to go over 300hp at least. However, buying intake systems for these cars will not give much increase. Of course, I've got a VQ35DE and the only mods is a Motordyne 1/2" plenum spacer. Put the Z on the dyno and came out with 254hp/261tq to the wheels, so I'm happy about that.
Now, being bored at school I decided to look at options for turbo systems. I've always wanted single-turbo for reliability but twin-turbos would be sick, as well. After a bit of browsing I came across this STS turbo system. I actually found a video and it sounds sick (one of the reasons why I want a turbo). From descriptions, the guy has a rear-mounted turbo system. I thought that's kind of odd. It sounds awesome but how would you get any gain from that?
Looked into it some more and to get this whole setup done, tune and everything would cost less than 10k. Gains can reach up to 400hp. It sounds to good to be true but for a sound so sexy, I think it might be a good route to go. Apparently, this guy got it worked on and tuned by CIN Motorsports in Charlotte, NC and I live near Charlotte so I'll probably be going in there sometime to check about this but this seems legit.
Does anyone have this kind of setup? If so, what's the difficulty of it and how much would need to be spent approximately?
The reason why I didn't want to go with a regular turbocharger is that my engine has over 100,000 miles and I don't want to risk losing it. I also don't want to rebuild the engine because that's just more money.
If I were to go this route of a rear-mount turbo, does the engine have to be rebuilt? I figured since the turbo is not located at the engine, it shouldn't be a problem.
If I were to get this kit, I'll probably take it to CIN to do the work and properly tune it.

Yeah, that turbo being far away from the engine makes all the difference in the world.

Not really too sure why everyone is so set on HAVING to do a rebuild when going for a low boost setup.

I made my own RMT setup on my 95 maxima, stock motor and it had 130k miles on it. Easily racked up 40k miles on the motor with a street tune on 8ish psi, all that ever happened was a blown oil pump cause i missed a shift and over rev'd. VQ's arent made out of glass...The car is still runing like a champ lol.

Im pretty sure a vq35 can handle *<10psi on stock internals with fuel upgrades and a good tune. Not everyone is trying to go for extreme gains...

Im sure there are always exceptions to the rule but still...
